First we were going to get Pietroangelo, then Chychrun and now weโre getting Luke Schenn.
Oy Vey - Canada Cup
As Mr. Sir correctly pointed out, Schenn would be a low risk add to the Leafs lineup. You can disagree and are free to have that opinion, I agree with Mr. Sir. Criticizing is a really low effort easy thing to do. Offering a solid alternative takes a little more effort.

I don't know who they are willing to move in deals but I'd rather give up two prospects for Schenn than picks. Or a pick in like 2 years and a prospect, since we need to make space for contracts.

I would agree, but the Canucks are likely sellers not buyers, so they might prefer a pick. As many have said, a team needs 8 or 9 d-men ready to go in the playoffs in case of injuries. I think the Leafs will work to shore up the bottom end of that group.

My solid alternative is to do nothing until closer till the TDL. The team continues to have the third lowest goals against numbers in the league without its three best guys. There will be a lot more to choose from as more teams drop out of playoff contention. Just because the Canucks are crashing and burning right now doesnโt mean we need to grab Schenn.

Well a contract has to go because the leafs are at 50. So imo it's Mete if the Canucks want a 4th round pick. If they would take a 7th then it's a prospect like Kral going.

I respect your stance to sit and wait. There's no rush for Dubas to do anything at the moment.
The only two reasons I would make another deal after the Timmins one is if some injuries outside of Muzzin are longer than originally thought OR the price was too good to pass up now in comparison to the deadline price hike.

Yes it was. For a puck possession team, Leafs really suck at holding onto the biscuit in OT. That pass by Matthews was terrible. That said, the goal was weak sauce, Murray was the second best goalie. The OT didn't upset me nearly as much as Cirelli running (and completely getting away with) Murray. I didn't mind the slash Cirelli took in the aftermath at all. Not sure at all how to handle opponents intentionally running the goalie when they are down in the game. Seems to be a regular event. The bad guy on my left shoulder says run Vasilevskiy at first opportunity and crosscheck him in the throat. The good guy on the other shoulder says retaliate by playing hard, getting traffic in front of the opponent's net and shoot shoot shoot. The officiating was terrrible in this game, didn't mind any of the penalties called, and both disallowed goals were the right call. The non calls against Tampa were numerous, and the 2 minute minor to Kucherov should have been five and a game. - winsix
Tampa got called for one embellishment (which the Leafs were still inexplicably given a penalty), and they should've been assessed at least 5. It was actually embarrassing.

As we move to the closer to the trade deadline, there will indeed be more alternatives, there will also be more buyers based on playoff positioning and injuries. Schenn is a minor move, with the Leaf injury situation, there should be one or two TDL moves available that are impactful on the cap. The move to get a player like Schenn is certainly not impactful on the cap. He makes less than $1M.

Agree, there should have been no Leaf penalty on that play. As I mentioned, it didn't bother me as much as Kucherov hitting Holl in the numbers (he didn't even have the puck) and his face bouncing off the glass. Leafs have received playoff majors and suspensions for lesser hits (twice) Kucherov should have got 5 and a game for sure. Cirelli running over Murray on his own without a call was also BS.
