We gotta love Slick Nick with the puck on his stick... And I totally agree with you, Karine, we haven't seen offense anywhere near this level of skill since Damphousse and Kovalev.

Was nice to see when the defence was mediocre (at best) and the goaltending not having the best of night, that the Habs could still keep the game close and eventually win it.

A game like this last year, and it was 100% a loss after 2-0.

I will give Matheson a pass, first game back from injury, first game jitters in MTL, at least he got his first goal.

Edmundson has looked weak ever since he got back. Not sure if it is mounting injuries from this year and/or last year, or just that he is more exposed playing a role/minutes he has not in the past.

(bump from the last thread, just cuz I find it very interesting):

here's an impressive and rather surprising statistic:

Jean Béliveau, Maurice Richard and Bernard Geoffrion are the only habs that have scored more goals than Caufield in their first 100 NHL games…

I wonder if any of them went 30 games without a goal because of a poop coach.

Imagine the numbers....

He was already a top 4 defenseman in the past, so I'm not sure about that one.

But getting older, the injuries and missing a good chunk of the season, probably didn't help.

the habs had so much talent in the lineup through the 50s, 60s and 70s that they probably would've performed almost as well despite terrible coaching, or maybe even without any coach at all loll

that was a hell of a pass by the captain on the 4th goal.
and a sweet move later on to win it.

when he first signed his 8M contract, many thought he would be overpaid the first few years, and that then, maybe, it would eventually be a good contract for the Habs.
I think we can say he is already earning his paycheck. a bit surprising, but very satisfying.

that advanced stats formula that had him among the league's worst contracts is looking dumber and dumber with every game.

Surprising indeed how ready was he for the pressure of the big contract and the C? Impressive!

the only thing though that maybe needs to be taken into consideration is that the team isn't under any pressure to perform, they aren't expected to win, so it makes his first year of captaincy much easier to deal with.

but Suzuki is a very smart and mature kid, I was never really worried for him, and it seems his ceiling keeps getting higher.
