Thanks Zach. The following is from the Oilers blog as Sean discusses their goaltending situation.
“A good netminder goes a long way in stabilizing a team that is struggling and gives them a chance to get back into the game”. He was referring to Campbell, who did not give the Oilers a chance. However, this is exactly what Soderblom did against the Ducks last night.

Interesting that nobody brings up D. Strome’s game tonight. No points and a -3. A minus 8 for the season so far.

As long as former players put up more points than the Hawks have, people will complain. What I still don’t understand is the constant gnashing of teeth when everyone and their mother knew exactly what this season was going to be. We don’t WANT them to be good this year.

The Hawks HAD all these guys on the team last year and they were still dog poop. Did they move some guys that were young and good? Yes, but that was the point. Start over from scratch, and build the team that you want going forward.

I just laugh every time I see someone post “McCabe sucks, or “Entwistle is an AHLer”. Yes! And that is the point.

And yet, you could say this year so far is a fail, because they are much better than last year, and maybe the last 3 years.

Maybe they should have resigned Strome and Kubalik, and not traded Dach, etc. etc.

Is KD really doing a terrible job?

Indeed. If KD made these roster changes and brought back Colliton, they would have already been relegated to the AHL. He hired Richardson a year too early.

And at the end of the season, none of the players traded away in the offseason will probably play in the playoffs either

Ehhh, I'm glad they got something for Dach and Cat, to let the other 2 walk is just bad asset management. Period

I remember getting criticized for complaining about the system JC had in place. Amazing how much better they look with a NHL coach in charge.

Yeah I still see a 15-1 shot differential favoring the Canes midway into the 1st period.

Nobody has ever accused Strome of being a player you win with.

Lol me too..... where did the JC support crew go? The Hawks, by all accounts have less talented players this year, with a better system in place, and low and behold better record.

You've said this a number of times. Why do you discount the fact that he tried to trade both of them at the TDL and got nothing substantial? Does getting a 6th rounder really make things any better?

They both are obviously not well thought of in the league, otherwise, they'd get actual NHL offers.

I was admittedly (and regrettably) one of them. I don't have the ability to see faults in a particular system. I just tend to want to give people the opportunity to implement their vision. At some point, you have to realize that what you are trying to do is just a bad idea. Seems he never did.

Toews not being a ghost helps immensely as well.

Couple of other observations:
1) Hawks probably have better center depth on this team than they have in a while. Sucks that so many other positions dropped off.
2) I know Dach is doing much better right now, but between the two, I like Domi better (especially as a center).

I also remember you saying - incessantly - that the team would be worse off without Strome.
