All those guys were skating yesterday so I wouldn't read too much into the fact that they were not skating today.

Harkins is called up for Stanley. Appleton has a possible illness. ( Hopefully, it isn't Coviid that suddenly spread to the team )

The longer Ehlers is out the more cap space Chevy gains. I'd estimate we might now be closer to $6.5 M in extra cap space which in theory is enough to trade for any upcoming UFA in the NHL. ( since only about half their salary would remain) . Of course that type of move is highly dependant on the Jets success into the trade deadline.

The Jets have to worry more about giving up 40 shots a game then about their top 2 lines. Is Bowness' system the same as Maurices'?

In addition to ehlers and Stanley, only Barron will be out tomorrow. He will most likely be replaced by Harkins. Everyone else just had maintenance days.

As I glance at the NHL standings after the first 10 games or so I'd have to say the two biggest surprises to the downside. are Nashville and St. Louis. Both. teams are off to very poor starts and their fans are really. starting to lean on their teams.

The upside surprises so far might be the Sabres who are looking like the next young team to contend with. The mgmt. there has done a very. good job rebuilding that team. Dahlen is coming into his own, Tage Thompson looks like a budding superstar, Tuch fitting in well, and Owen Power looks very promising.

Devils are also performing above expectations. One could argue the Kraken as well.

As for. the Jets, yes, they have looked badly outshot and often outplayed in several games but they. are 5-3-1 without Ehlers. He is a key guy when it comes to possession and zone time and opens up the ice for others. Other teams can key more on the guys like Connor when Ehlers isn't dancing around the O-zone.

Always a interesting game and circus when the Habs are in town . Go Jets !

Jacob. I can't blame you for not writing that many articles when the fanbase on the Jets thread seems to have mostly disappeared. Maybe they just like to criticize the Jets when they lose and have not much to say when they win.

The overtime goal by Connor had a lot of similarities to the Eichel OT goal except it was a handoff from Scheif. I saw some chatter on the previous. thread about that Eichel goal. No doubt that MS and JM could have played it better but also note that there was a partial pick by Vegas on that play which was just enough for the refs not to notice but also just enough that it cost MS that extra stride which might have made the difference.

Stanley might have some difficulty getting back into the lineup when he is healthy as Sambergs game is looking pretty good.

Who would have thought that playing 4 lines would produce positive results 🤔?

Good game by the Jets. Beating teams that they should!

I am also impartial to the 90's Jets jersey. Love that one the most!

Just some thoughts..........

I had to look up who 77, 8, and 71 were for the Jets. #8 seems to really dig for the puck and makes it difficult to play against.

Gustafsson is also looking like the NHL player we have been waiting for as well.

Great game to watch but our goailie is sure dialed in and giving the team time to get going. Helle is machine "like" so far!

I kind of liked the reverse retro jersey today. I might buy one!

Agree. When we had the reveal for the Jets Retro jersey I thought it looked kinda boring but watching it on the telecast today I thought they looked pretty damn nice.

Just drooling at even the remote chance that Chevy might be eyeing ROR as a potential short-term rental in the free-agent market if the Jets can keep up their winning ways. Jets have the cap space to get it done but Chevy will be quite careful not to give away too many prospects or draft picks ( especially 2023) for a guy like ROR to a division rival.

The Jets essentially have 2 years to go for the cup. You either go all-in and try to win something or tear it all down. This being half-in, half-out situation has not worked well in the past 11 seasons.

I always think about what could've been if the Jets had traded for O'Reilly at the 2018 trade deadline instead of Stastny, would've taken some maneuvering but probably could've been done.

I'm gonna have to read that article soon.

A couple of random notes on a Monday afternoon.

1) Blue Jackets are in dead last in the NHL . Laine and Roslovic are at a 1/2 pt per game pace and Laine's points all came in Finland. Good year to tank though with an exceptional draft class

2) Florida Panthers are only a little above .500 this year under Maurice. I'n not sure they are going to make the playoffs on a team that SHOULD make the playoffs.

3) Kraken are off to a great start. I guess we might find out why in a few games when the Jets hit Seattle.

4) Blues feeling the blues after losing 6 in a row. Someone/something likely to happen there soon if things don't improve fast...trades, firings, etc

That Panthers team is overrated I think, probably overachieved last year, they played a more offensive style of game and now have Maurice with his garbage defensive hockey, we'll see if it works.

Have heard their special teams are both amongst the worst in the league, not sure if that's true though.

Is Tkachuk ever a clown, pathetic he only got a two games for that spear on Quick, should've been WAY more, 10 games at least.

No kidding, if he concentrated on playing hockey instead of doing stupid sh!t...... he would bring so much more to the game than he currently does. Lots of talent there but wastes too much time doing stupid sh!t imop.
