Kevin Francis: Dallas/Ottawa Gameday! - Kevin Francis
Looks like Oettinger will start the game so it will be interesting to see how the team fares against a goalie with a 95.9% save percentage and a 1.25 GAA. Quality of shots will be important.
If the team pulls this one out, it would be a huge win in terms of defeating a high quality opponent. |

I would assume rest day. He's played every game so far. |

Rest day would make sense. If they were trying to work Hellberg into the starting rotation, it would have made a lot more sense to play him against ARI than DAL.
Regardless, it should be a good early-season test for both teams. DAL is 4-0-1 and there's no doubt that Oettinger is an excellent young G. However, their wins have been against NSH, WPG, MTL, and NSH again, who are currently 3 of the 6 lowest scoring teams in the NHL. The one game they played against a more prolific NHL offense resulted in a 3-2 OT loss to TOR. |

The Toronto OT loss was to the backup goalie for Dallas. |

Dallas does not play much of a physical game and the numbers indicate they don't like to hit and they don't like being hit. Ottawa is in the top 5 in hits per game to start this season.
Curios to see if Ottawa finshes their checks tonight and whether it has an impact on the final outcome.

As impactful as Brady Tkachuk is in many different areas, I think I forgot that this guy can score 40 goals and 80-90 points in a season. His dad and brother have already hit 98/100 points; 40/50 goal seasons. I was so focused on guys like DeBrincat, Batherson, and Stutzle.... I didn't think Brady will compete for the team lead for the entire year

Daily Faceoff lineup shows Forsberg as day-to-day, so expect Hellberg to start.

Good to see confirmation that they'll drop Brassard right into Norris' position, and let Pinto stay between Motte and Joseph.

It is interesting to read how most of the local commentators who have played the NHL game are strong in their opinion that the best option is to move Brassard between DeBrincat and Giroux. If you check you will see there are also a bunch of commentators, who have never played the game, insisting that Pinto deserves a chance to move up to the 2nd line. Important, I think. Guys who have been in the dressing room understand the team as a whole has an opinion.
I have no doubts that Pinto is a first or second line centre for the Sens. By the end of tonight he may have already been moved up. All the guys in the room are pulling for Brassard. He deserves the respect he is being offered.
Remember when Spezza signed with the Leafs. He had a good exhibition series but he did not dress for the first regular seasongame. Part of the reason the coach lost the room and ultimately his job.

Really good first period of hockey. Dallas came on really strong at the start and it took Sens half a period to get started but they evened stuff up pretty good over the next 10 minutes. |

How about if they stop tryi ng to make DeBrincat happen and go with the guys who are actually scoring. |

This is a really good game. Dallas is a solid team. Some huge saves at both ends. Thought Sens had the edge in the second period. |

Love the 4th line and the diversity of every line.
Tkachuk is rock solid. Stutzle is turning into a magical playmaker and Pinto can shoot. So many things to like with this team on tonights performance. |

I get you want to rag on Cat as it suits your narrative to date. But he's at a PPG, so I really don't get what you're talking about. He basically has the same stat line as Stutzle. 8th in total goals over the past 3 years. Patrick Kane 80th. He's got good playmakers beside him - be patient, let the chemistry set, and the goals will come. |
