Morning skate lines on defence. Think it'll be a lot different fferent than you thought. |

The biggest issue with trying to match up partners with Chabot is the sheer # of ES minutes he plays. I have no problem with them trying to flip Zub/Hamonic around to assess chemistry, but I'm not sure Hamonic has the stamina to keep up with ~22min/GP at ES every night, plus the PK time they need from him. Plus, he's looked relatively good playing beside Sanderson, so if they continue that pairing into the regular season I don't think that's a problem. What IS a problem is the persistent overplaying of Brannstrom/Zaitsev, which is a situation that will hopefully resolve itself before opening night. Those two are a combined -10 in the pre-season, which include being on the ice for multiple 1st GA and late GA that made games far closer than they should be. At minimum, your 3rd D-pair should do no harm... which is the opposite of what they're getting.
I'm also pretty sure you'll see Brassard signed to a 1yr deal. He's just been effusive since the start of training camp how much he wanted to come back and play with Ottawa. Given all of the positives a veteran with that kind of motivation and attitude can bring to your locker room, they'd be foolish to not sign him as a depth forward. |

This is a great discussion, even more so with how DJ needs to deploy his 3 pairings. Like you said, Brannstrom needs to be paired with the proper partner and Zaitsev cant be anywhere near the city of Ottawa come opening night or Dorion has failed this fanbase in making sure there's no way DJ dresses him.
I agree with all of you on Brass, vet and can play all special teams too. Gambrell is an AHL player, end of story.
I do worry about Chabot, he isn't progressing the way you would think a 25 year old like him at this point in his career.

That 2nd paring is a nightmare, my goodnesss.

I do hope that DJ gives the Habs a taste of their own medicine tonight and lets a few of the Sens players to give back a little humble pie to Montreal for always targeting Stutzle. |

The 1st period was a joke, let's go boys, time to give it back to the Habs. |

OTT maybe in the bottom 15 this year because they have no D structure and a coach who don't know how to coach, bu they gonna have a top 10 PP |

Brassard a goal and an assist on the PP |

Disappointed to see JBD sent down to Belleville. Larsson and Sabourin both sent down....no other surprises with guys being sent down outside of JBD. |

I'd be stunned if he isn't offered a one year deal!

Someone on Twitter said it best tonight, acquiring 5 years of Zaitsev to get rid of 1 year of Ceci! Thanks PD.......ugh, what a fool! |

Not a huge baseball fan. Is there something about losing, Toronto and playoffs. Some kind of synchronicity? Some things are just plain ugly. Really do feel sorry for Jays fans. Watched game with guy up at cottage. He had a ticket for Sunday's game. So excited during early parts of the game. Crushed in the end. |

That was an awful meltdown to watch with the Jays.

If DJ dresses Zaitsev for one game this regular season when you have Thomson and JBD down in Belleville, plus Larsson showed more than Zaitsev, it should cost him his job the moment he dresses his teacher's pet in Nikita.

Until Zaitsev is as far away from Ottawa as any player, it will continue to show Sens fans why he shouldn't be coaching at the NHL level.

What I do find odd is that the Sens were so high on Joey Daccord, yet no waiver claim on him with Seattle placing him on waivers. Dorion and DJ know what he's capable of playing in the NHL, yet they have Hellberg who has played 5 NHL games! |

Well in fairness, they claimed Hellberg a week ago when they learned about Talbot. Still, for an organization that has been fairly calculating and deliberate this off season, it was pretty knee jerk to snag Hellberg so early. One only had to look at preseason rosters with most teams carrying 3-4 goalies to know there were still a lot of netminder waiver dominos to fall. Not just Dacccord - Ottawa could have waited just a week and picked from Grosenick, Pickard, Khudobin, Kincaid, Schneider, McIntyre, Delia, Fucale, Tokarski, Dansk, or Subban. |

Now that is a list! Then they wouldn't be so worried if they were going to play Hellberg at all until Talbot returns.

Like someone said on Twitter, he'd take 3 of them over Hellberg....makes no sense what Ottawa did. |

Look...be honest....no one thought much of the Forsberg waiver pick up back in the day, and that turned out okay. Let's see the guy play first before we deem him unworthy and less than or call Dorions move poor.
He's cheap. He's big. He's a placeholder. And he's got some sick pads... #goalieporn |

Yes, I tweeted out his pad, very cool. But as Doug W Jr. told, they put Hellberg on waivers 5 days before Daccord for a reason, they didn't see much in him and had some bad lazy habits. Seattle waited until the last day possible in the preseason to put Daccord on waivers.

no, no plugs, has beens, pylons, no cast offs, either he gets a legit top 4 Dman or play JBD and Thompson, enough is enough already |
