Zetterlund and Boqvist both have to pass through waivers to be sent down. McLeod and Johnsson would be safe. What shall we do?

Not sure how it works, but can we send down Johnsson or Tatar and hope they're claimed?

Keep boqvist and zetts and have McLeod rotate on 4th line

But can't see them waiving Johnson

Yes but can't see johnsson being claimed

Especially since other teams will be waiving players to get their rosters to fit

And the teams that could fit him under the cap will be those that are going to play younger players on their system and can only hope they feel they aren't ready

McLeod and Bastian are the weak links up front for sure. Even if Johnsson isn't effective offensively he's better than them defensively still. Still to be seen if Holtz is going to grab a spot on the roster anyway since if he isn't in a top six role they might want him in the AHL getting more ice time. You'd think the Bahl is going to get a roster spot at this point because he's had a really strong preseason thus far.

I think Buffalo would claim Johnsson if waived. They are a team that wants to improve around their young core and he would be a real upgrade over some idiot on their roster.

Barzal making 9.2 per year when Jack is making 8 makes that deal look better and better.

You think this affects Bratt even if they are different positionally?

If Bratt has a big year his contract is going to be massive.

I look at guys like Tage Thompson in Buffalo who had one good season with an insane shooting percentage making 7+ and Norris in Ottawa where he makes almost 8 for one good season and you're seeing GMs all following the trend of betting on your young players. We were at the beginning of the trend so we have good contracts for Nico/Jack but the deals are going to go higher as the salary cap increases.

I’m hoping we can keep him for 7/7, assuming he puts up a 30g35a season. I really don’t think he has elite upside, so I really don’t want to give him A-tier money. He’s a B-level player IMO, with some A- games sprinkled here and there.

I think Bratt has 100pts season written all over him. Watch him in preseason, he's a threat everytime he has the puck. He evades D and he pulls away from them so fast. The only reason his pt totals arent higher because the lack of finishing from his line mates. Palat, Holtz and a healthy Jack will change all that.

He is our Zetterberg, late, sleeper pick that turned into a cornerstone of a franchise.

And he's ours, all ours!

Btw, if you havent figured it out yet why we are "entertaining" his brother before the contract year should be evident by now.

If Bratt hits 100 points we will win the Stanley Cup. There is no possible way. Hughes and Hischier will combine to miss half the season, and it’s not like he has JG or Tkachuk on his opposite wing either, but another young developing player in Sharangovich/Mercer/Holtz, or a grinder in Palat. Bratt isn’t scoring 50 so idk how he’d hit 100 points.

Islanders fans dont think so highly of Barzal. They are saying he's overrated. Not sure where all that came from.
