The GM is just bad at his job. He has been here almost as long as the prior GM and has produced worse results. He has made 2 solid trades that I can think of: Niskanan and Braun. Only because the other GM's were desperate. His draft picks have not bared any fruit at all. Look at who he passed over when he Drafted York ( who I am not 100% sold on to be a quality top 4 dman). Giving up the assets for Tony D makes little sense for where this team is at and even more baffling seeing what they did in free agency. Add in he made zero trades to try to improve. Tony D will not produce offensively like he did in Carolina. So with that being said how effective will he be? He has value just not to a team like the Flyers imo. Many other deals to mention though you know the drill. Has the GM ever got value on any of the deal he has made or players he has signed/re-signed?
Risto is a bottom pairing dman. There is no evidence to suggest otherwise. The evidence was there prior to the trade. Didn't like the trade though was willing to have a wait and see attitude. It was clear he needed to be moved. Recoup some of hat you gave up. The dumb GM instead signs him to a well above market deal. Look at compares and the deals they got in free agency. It i laughable they gave him that deal. Beyond laughable. He has an untradeable contract.
Hayes has been pretty much as advertised. Anyone expecting more was going to be disappointed. Again he over payed in term and money. Another untradable contract. Low end #2 center at best.
OF the 2 at least one is producing somewhat. Though means little at the end of the day.

Why isn’t Hart getting any game time? Maybe a period or half a game. The season opener is less than a week away.
The day to day disclaimer is laughable.
I understand he has been practicing but that’s not a game.
The dysfunctional direction of this organisation is out there for all to see. |

Him being day to day is a great way to get that lottery pick

While that may be true you can only judge him by what he has done. Or in this case hasn't done. He is a sub par GM who has no business still being in charge based on the results. He must really be a good bull poopter behind the scenes to be still employed.

The simple explanation as to why Hart isn’t playing is that he’s too injured to play. |

We are in a Sabres-like purgatory. I do get some hope from Tortorella who I think will play the guys who give us the best chance to win. But he is one guy who gets it and the rest of our management have their heads in the sand. |

What hope? Instead of 20 wins he gets them to 23? Does anyone find it odd at all that with all the coaching vacancies not one other team looked in Torts direction?
This is a boring and bland team. The style they will try to pay will be horrible to watch.

The narrative is that he would play if it was a regular season game. So I’m expected to believe out of caution no preseason game work only practice because of LBI.
Throwing Hart right into a regular season game though is normal.

I’ve stopped listening to what the Flyers say about injuries. I can only go by what I see. If a player got hurt and is not playing the evidence points to him being too injured to play. The team saying he’d play if it was a regular season game only means to me that they’d play an injured Hart, in games that count, because they don’t have a decent alternative…not that he’s healthy. |
