Well Duran, I was hoping not to have this chat with you but I think the time has come. So it all starts with when a man loves a woman... this is the furthest I can go on a public board. Someone else please feel free to fill in other details

“When I say I love Calgary, it’s the city,” Gaudreau said (Sept 25th), according to Aaron Portzline of The Athletic. “Now that I’m on Columbus, I couldn’t care less what they do as a team....."

A pretty telling comment. Could have said something like I've still got friends there so I wish them all the best. (or maybe he doesn't have any friends here after the way he left.)
Probably safe to say he felt that way before he signed with Columbus, too. And just as safe to say the coaching staff (and the team?) also sensed his attitude and aren't sorry he's gone.
So, after a comment like that does he still deserve a video tribute when he plays here this season?
And who'll lead the welcoming committee? I'm betting Kadri will drill him before the first intermission. GFG!

Who cares? Move on. I'm sure most people in Calgary and on the Flames don't really care how he does in Columbus either. He gave Calgary 8 great years and one game. He deserves a celebration when he comes back. Besides that, he's irrelevant now on the most irrelevant team in the league.

Johnny Walker will endure endless boos everytime he touches the puck, I’m sure he’ll stay on the perimeter when Kadris on the ice.

As a Flames fan, I am not sad JG is no longer the face of the franchise. He was an exciting player to watch, but he always had a resting female dog face on the bench and seemed to lack interest during interviews.

His actions and comments post-trade make him look even more douchey.

He is going to hear a lot of boo birds in the dome.

On a side note, I really missed Sutters post-game pressers over the summer.

In case anyone cares about the games...
I hope the goal scoring graphics they used for the home game are a pre-season experiment... bloody awful!

I'm glad JG is gone he liked to say all the nice things when he was still a Flames about open to a extension. At least with Tkachuk he had the balls and respect to say the Flames weren't in his future. I think the Flames are better off now without Jenny Hockey.

It wasn't balls or respect. He wasn't a UFA and wanted out.

It's really starting to seem that Sutter was probably the biggest reason they both left. Hopefully, they win the Cup this year and Sutter retires. Being a Richard nonstop to your own players doesn't really work anymore.

Seriously?? Multi million dollar paid players dont like a tough coach who demands top efforts & performance on a consistent basis. The poor bastards, I bet Russia/KHL would be a better place to have a hockey career & better work environment.

Look at the top teams in the league. What do they all have in common? Coaches the players love playing for. Players love Cooper, Bednar, and Brind'amour. They all also demand maximum effort and hold their players accountable, but they're not Richards about it. Keeping Sutter around long-term is just going to ensure we get a roster of Toffolis to cheer for in a few years.

And why are you bringing the KHL up? There are probably 25 other NHL teams you could go to and still be a multi-millionaire and have a better work environment.

Oh the poor millionaires can’t take a bit of a verbal ear beating. Fuk people are getting so soft, we live in a society of marshmallows. Others even making this a point of discussion only solidifies the problem.

I've seen one player accuse Sutter (Daniel Carcillo) of being a tyrant or in his words "Darryl is a bad human being" . No one backed Carcillo up or backed his accusations. He's a rural Alberta farmer, grumpy and old. He doesn't expect but demands players work hard, kind of goes with the farmer mentality.
You being in the dressing room obviously provides that level of insight?! I don't think he's the easiest to get along with but he's there to coach not be every players buddy. Tkachuck mentioned lifestyle in his post trade interviews several times, something Sutter probably doesn't have a lot of patience for. JG I suspect had a cry or two after practice or if the rumors were true, delved in the nose candy. Meh, players, coaches come and go. Sutter was hired to elevate this team and did so. We'll see what this season becomes under Sutter...

Yeah who would want to play for a grumpy old coach who knows what he's doing & the players just had "career seasons" playing for him, vaulting both of them to much higher paycheques. I guess ole Squeak doesnt understand us old feller old school sarcasm. I referred to Russia as he probably hasnt watched any of the news & videos of young Russian men fleeing for borders & being dragged off in the draft to fight & probably die in Ukraine. Moral of story....things could be way worse than playing for a grumpy old coach who has the same facial expression getting a prostate check as he does winning a playoff series. Yes there are 384 total forward positions available in the NHL in the world that these entitled soft players that dont like gruff coaches can apply for. Fck sakes, yep why are we even having this conversation. LOL

The whole point of what I stated is he was direct and honest unlike JG, Tkachuk could've said all the nice things that JG did and leave the Flames with nothing at the end of the contract. You must be related to that east canada are aholes blogger that I'm sure got blocked.
