That's the issue, too many older options blocking your Heineman, Ylonen, etc.

if you want to make a trade happen you gotta give ice time to some of those older, more expensive yet not that useful guys on the team...

I just do not see how you can get rid of Hoffman, Armia and/or Drouin - especially since very few teams have cap space and most of those teams that have space do not want to those salaries on their payroll, unless they are covered via insurance on LTIR or have a high cap hit, but very little actual salary.

I'd rather see some of those kids on the wings, or a rotation of kids between MTL and Laval, then those guys, but I just do not see some of those players being gone before the season starts.

I mean HuGo have surprised us before, but I do not think they will be able to work miracles here....

last season was horrible for basically everyone on the team... the probability of finding a dumb and/or desperate enough GM who would have interest in a guy like Armia or Hoffman might not be very high, but there's zero chance it happens if they don't play at all.

Let's be real - there is no market for Armia or Hoffman, unless a team becomes super desperate because of lots of injuries.

We are likely stuck with them until likely the next trade deadline in 2024 (and more likely, let them walk as free agents).

I agree with what you're saying, but I don't think completely giving up on moving them without even trying would be such a great strategy either, you gotta hope that at least one of them has enough motivation to start playing better and show other teams they still have something left in them.

OR unless Armia starts playing more like the Yoel we saw at the world championships, and Hoffman produces at a better rate offensively...

If they're plsying well, then the team is probably doing well.

And if they're doing well why trade them and ruin a good thing?

Quite the pickle you've put yourself in, pat

yeah, can't wait until everyone jumps on the "habs should give Jonathan Drouin a 7-year extension" bandwagon once he finally starts producing offensively this year.

I heard he's also getting hair extensions to start the season, so that he can truly channel his inner Alex Kovalev.

apparently he wasn’t eligible for rookie camp due to the fact he has returned to Northeastern for another year at the NCAA level.

No.

Because contenders have zero or very little cap space... they are not going to waste it on Armia.

and why would non-contenders want that contract?
