He should fit fine, but I'd rather have DeAngelo at his age and contract than Burns at his age. They are both offensively gifted dmen that suck defensively. Maybe Burns will be better in a reduced role, but he's always been a defensive liability even in his prime with a good partner.

Burns isn't defensively stalwart by any stretch, but he also isn't bottom 5% in the league like Tony is.

He'll be a much better fit.

I love Brent Burns but i don't think he is going to be a good fit.

Offensively i think he will put up some points but I think his age might show in the type of defensive system that Carolina plays. Largely, i think he is in pretty great shape for his age but he hasn't played meaningful games in a while.

Will be interesting to see how he responds playing with a competitor again though. Anyone on Carolina particularly good at tip ins?

Interestingly, he was actually parked net front doing tip-ins with Slavin firing from the point the other day.

I wonder if they'll use him as a sort of hybrid RW/RD, playing forward on the power play.

Me too. have him park his giant ass in front of the goalie and let the Teravainen's of the world play keep away.

What’s more, it’s about damn time Slavin gets rewarded with an extended look on PP1.

The man will never get his Norris otherwise.

Would be very interesting to see him back on the wing.

Canes have historically had issues with guys getting to the front of the net and in the goalies face. Guarantee Burns would have no problems with that.
