Man I miss Roddy. I hope Torts coaches with us a long long time and wins a Cup, but I hope Roddy will come coach us after that. He belongs here. Always has.

There must be an alternate universe where Rod and Foppa were never traded, became Flyers for life, and formed the finest two-way powerhouse center combo in the league for a decade+.

Please, with our luck Lindros stays healthy and leads the Rangers to 4 Cups in that timeline.

What a group of centers. Did we ever lose a faceoff?

Over 70% as a team IIRC.

It DID seem like we never lost a faceoff.

Rod was a true hockey pioneer. He kept himself in exceptional shape and many players tried to follow in his foot steps. His iron man streak of 484 was a true iron man streak cause he played a real game all over the ice. These turds today with their iron man streaks (Yandle and Kessel come to mind) mean nothing cause they play soft games. Wonder why Jakey never gets hurt? Cause he stays away from the tough areas on the ice. Rod never took a short cut. Played a man's game and stayed healthy because he was in exceptional shape. I bet he would make a great coach someday.....oh wait.

GM and president of hockey operations Chuck Fletcher. Just let that sink in for a bit. Every day that he maintains those positions is just another wasted day in the abyss. This dude is nothing more than a bad used car salesman. That man needs to go! Please FIRE CHUCK! Thanks!

July has come and gone and there’s still no update on Ryan Ellis. I believe Flechter said July would be a critical month for his recovery. Bill, are you hearing anything about him?

It’s been 10 months, he’s not skating, and they’re still not opting for surgery.

Rod was just that, unbreakable and possibly punishing.
He never took anything for granted and honed every attribute to take every advantage that he perceived. His dedication to the profession and his indomitable will were always on display.
He deserves every bit of praise he gets.
He's a rare one and may even be unique.
I like(d) him a lot.

I was trying not to go there, but I was thinking the same thing. The Flyers do seem to have a long history of being cursed by the injury bug for whatever reason.

All signs point to Ellis never playing hockey again.

This is the world I wished we lived in but the Recchi for Desjardins and LeClair trade still has to happen.

Yeah.

Fletch has been operating as if that is the case.

Rod, Selanne, Claude Boivin.

How do you go from those 2 to then settle for Claude?

Of course...but Mrs Gritty will distract and give peoples children in $200 seats entertainment to go with the $$$$ snacks and parking and the marketing dept will smile and analytics will analeyeze and Chuck will trade draft picks and sign overpaid dogs like Scarface at a table of white powder as the GM..

I think in his mind that Ellis money IS cap space.

Not an ideal way to operate especially since it cant be banked.

Looking at that draft there werent many other choices after that. The rest of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rounds are pretty lame.

Recchi, Amonte, and Rob Blake got taken in the 4th round at 67, 68, and 70, Mogilny in the 5th........but hindsight........

Why can't the Flyers ever get that 4th rounder that turns into a Recchi, Amonte, or Blake? Or a late rounder that turns into a Datsyuk or Zetterberg? WHY? WHY? WHY?

Health wasn't the only issue tho... all the drama, the parents, the selfishness, the season-long holdouts, the beefing in the room, etc. Fans and media ate it up, but it's just really hard to win under those conditions.

I'd happily foist all those problems on the Rangers and be content with Foppa as the Next Bobby Clarke.

Any chance to give Frost a BrindAmour blood transfusion or insert some of his DNA?
