I know its the dog days of summer, but I can't believe that you headlined a column to this piece of garbage by Luszczyszn. His comments on Panarin tell you that he is a Ranger-hater and he will promote his bullsh!t agenda any way that he can.
Oh and by the way, its an article on TEAM contracts, but we won't include the goalies? PLEASE!
Move along, nothing to see here at all!
Lets have a blog on some more Rangers questions....
End of rant! |

I have said I will revisit the list of off-season questions and see what, if anything, remains open and blog on them. In addition, asked the readers for more questions to be covered. The Vesey signing was included in the blog. Point taken. |

Thanks for your post Jan.
Don't mind reading your thoughts on The Athletic article.
Any Rangers news this time of the year is so worth reading.
October can't come soon enough.
Thank you. |

I believe what people perceive as overpaid in NYC just happens to be the cost of doing business in this city. Unfortunately, taxes here are higher than anywhere else. Nearly 12% of your income goes to the state and city, and it has to factor into the contracts that players sign. Furthermore, the cost of living has to factor into the contracts as well, housing and day to day living is some of the most expensive in the country. |

I dont think the cost of living matters to people making 7 and 8 digit salaries- Taxes do for sure tho |

Well, for someone like Goodrow for example, it does. He may be making 3.6m on paper, but hes also in the highest tax bracket so when you consider Fed, FICA, State and City, hes getting at most half that. So when you come into this city and buy a 1.5m apartment to live in, it matters. |

Just work a little harder and maybe you too could be in the highest tax brackets. Vlasic could use a competitor. |

For hockey players those large contracts are nice but you also have to take into account that the players agents get 10 percent off the top and a portion has to go into escrow. Then taking taxes into account, Im sure it does matter to them. Most players careers dont last that long and im sure they want to make as much as they can to live comfortably the rest of their lives. Dont forget this is a contact sport and some of their injuries linger for a long time. |

In all seriousness, when I was down in Texas, I bought these at the store. These pickles are amazing. |

Has an impact when it comes to free agency. Why the Panthers, Lightning and Stars have an inherent advantage, since no state taxes. |

This is really an issue imo. It’s beyond unfair that these certain teams have this ridiculous advantage. They need to adjust this somehow in the next CBA where these teams have less cap room or the other teams with state tax get more cap room. They basically can get an extra 5-6 million dollar player, certainly way more wiggle room to lure a player the other teams can’t
For instance, Kadri is probably already officially signed by the Islanders if they had this extra cash that Florida has for example |

Great idea slimtj100.
Hopefully the League and the Players Association are thinking the same as you, and finally level the playing field.
It's the right thing to do for everyone, players and teams. |

I hate having to defend a pickle but I don't think the pickle thinks that taxes dont matter. Me thinks the pickle was mackling an ironic joke- dont you think?l

Instead of adjusting for inflation they need to adjust for taxation. |

Sounds like he’ll be in the mix. He’s arguably better than Hunt.
I did think he played decent when I saw him with Devils last year. Surprised they didn’t keep him. |
