WOW. This is a good long term replacement for Tkachuk, but they still lost Gaudreau for nothing, so Treliving should still be fired!

Imagine! The oilers signed a 30 year old goalie to 5x5 that had 120 career starts and never has been a real starter! Hahaha!

10.5x8, nmc first 6 years, 12 team ntc last 2 years, and last year is 5m base and 5.5m bonus so it's probably buyout proof in late years.

Short term win for Flames. Win now worry about 8 yrs in 8 yrs. Cap will probably be 95+ by then

I’m a leafs fan and each one of these deals make me grimace about the MM contract. Marner is a good player but they paid hun too much and only got 6 yrs

If he's 35+ something happens and he ends up on LTIR, the way the CBA is now, his contract would provide cap relief.. or the Flames could off-load him with a 1st round pick and retain 50%..

By 2025, the cap starts going up quickly. It's not so much the value of a $10.5M deal then as much of what it will cost to sign a similar player then. So Matthews in 24/25 and Marner in 25/26. Yikes. No worry though, McDavid in 26/27.

My bad, apparently it's a 12 team list he can be traded too. That makes it even worse on the back end.

PPG player 400+ games into his career and he's entering his prime. Yessir.

How does Treliving not have a meme video by now?

It should start with Brad saying: "The players did their job, it was time for me to do mine" (Treliving's Toffoli trade explanation)

Then you play some edgy music

Cut to Tkachuk saying very disinterestingly "I fell in love with Calgary"
Then quickly to him saying "It was time for a change"

Cut back to Treliving saying "if we can't sign them, then we'll pivot"

Final scene: show Huberdeau putting on his Flames jersey, then zoom in on Brad with added effects...

I'm sorry but there are many PPG players every year. There are many very - very very good or great players. But the elite status is for the top 10-15 or so, and I dont think Mitchie is quite there. he is in the Hall of Great. Not elite.

Was gonna say the same thing, but figured it's not worth it for a guy who spent 6 months to a year continually bringing up political views on a hockey site despite others saying just discus hockey.

There is a 2 month age difference between Huberdeau and Gaudreau.

All things considered Calgary has recovered reasonably well and will be very competitive next season.

I wrote: "PPG player 400+ games into his career and he's entering his prime. Yessir." That shows he's consistently been a PPG player, not just last year. In fact, 4 years in a row he's hit a PPG mark. Probably has a few more of those left in him for the remainder of the contract to get to 700 games at his current career rate or better as he's entering his prime.

Is an elite player, in your estimation, someone who'd make 1 of 4 forward lines on an all-NHL team? What criteria would you use for your selection?
