Well both Sens and Wings are better than Leafs in Goal... At least I think they are...
Murray sucks and Samsonov is ok I guess. |

Applause.
That Matt Murray trade is going to bite them. Only hope is Samsonov.
Sens need a right shot D-man and then if they have chemistry and goaltending (which I think they will!) they should make the playoffs |

Wings and Bruins are about to trade places in the standings I think. Ready for another 20 years of post season? |

I have a feeling they are going to be good right out of the gate this year. Going to be fun to watch |

The Wings and Senators need at least 15 more wins to make it in, it might work?
Sure would like to see the Wings make it. To be fair the Senators will be exciting the coming season.
Who know’s where the Bruins will end up especially with today’s rumors with PASTRNAK.

New Jersey didn't sign Haula. They acquired him via trade.
Also, while most agree that Detroit and Ottawa improved...it's a bit simplistic to just focus on who they added without noting the players they lost.
For example, you mentioned Detroit adding Chiarot, Olli Maatta, Hagg...but they did lose Leddy, Staal, Stecher. Are they really much better on defense?
Ottawa added DeBrincat and Giroux. But they did lose Connor Brown and Nick Paul. So more skill. Less grit. Still better. But not by as much as you suggest. Their bottom 6 is worse now. And their defense is still awful.
Carolina picked up Burns and Pacioretty. Cool. They lost DeAngelo, Trochek, Niederreiter, Ian Cole. They took a step backwards in my opinion. But you have them as a winner. |

I’m just glad they were watchable last season. The couple seasons store that I found myself questioning why I even turned the game on halfway through the 1st. |

I'm just waiting for Donny boy to (frank) up again honestly. Its only a matter of time before he jerks himself into something stupid again. |

Yeah i don't understand how everyone keeps saying that had one of the best off-seasons. I love Brent Burns but he is not a good defender anymore.
Softioretty does not make up for the loses either and is pretty much the opposite of Carolinas philosophy. They play hard. He doesn't.
Carolina will be worse this year.

Yet most media stories just keep saying they added Burns, they added Patches, they even got Patches for free. Never an in-depth analysis. Then again, this is the Buzz. |

I’m normally a fan of Stevie Y, but he had an overrated offseason. Chiarot was an awful signing, and they overpaid in $$ and term for Copp. Other than that, a bunch of 7th d-men and David Perron? Weak
They’ve developed some nice young players but they’ll be bottom-feeders again

Interesting, Stevie free’s up $28+ million in cap space next year and can let up to 11 players walk. Wouldn’t you say he’s managing quite well?

Couldn't agree more. Copp was overpaid. Chariot is washed up. Perron is just a 1.5 year mentor before he's traded at the deadline. I did notice after Chiarot was signed Ek said Yzerman is killing it. Then he signed Dave Perron. Not David Perron. The report was Detroit signed Dave Perron. Priceless. |

Bringing in a experience to mentor those who do not know what it takes to make the post season. Forming a team that can compete for a playoff spot with a coach that can pull it all together. A gamble, slightly. But stevey Y was the architect behind Tampa's success. I believe he knows his team, the staff he hired and the supporting pieces he added. Some may have been overpaid sure, but the design is intact.
This team will complete, adjust, then compete harder. Then adjust. And get the formula right by close study and shrewd maneuvering. |

Ignoring Burns D warts is funny lol
Also Patches is injury prone & not the old 30g scorer anymore.
If Canes think the maybe added scoring is their answer I don’t. |

Lol Ek just make Kevin the Detroit blogger already. Another front page Red Wings article! Kevin you have made me hate the Red Wings, I hope they fail miserably because of your obsession. It was bad enough when u insult Mike Augello on the buzzcast by constantly trying mocking him, eye rolling, and telling him how much your wife hates him. The Red Wings obsession is even worse tho!
