Thought it was stupid to trade him. Great value at that price or even $1M more per year at $6M. He had some defensive deficiencies but could skate and score.

The fact they are now looking for a replacement for him seems illogical. My understanding is the org. was comfortable with Bear and Pesce as the top RDs.

This does nothing to change the Canes rep of being cheap.
They wanted him when he only cost a million bucks. When it came time to pay the man his due they walked away (traded him).
They will do the same thing tomorrow go for a bargain and get rid of that player when it’s time to pay him too.

Tulsky is the NHL version of moneyball. Canes are an organization that will and does spend to the cap. They won't overpay with Tulsky keeping Waddell in check. Loyalty only seems to be rewarded for guys like Martinook who can be had cheaply.

His offense doesn't outweigh his atrocious defense.

It's a testament to how good Slavin is.

I am not upset if this is true but biggest concerns are money and term. He would easily replace TDA's offensive production.

You do remember that we have Slavin "The Eraser" to pair him with. Slavin can create the illusion that even TDA is defensively sound.
