There are a lot of questions about the timing for sure. But hopefully fans take a step back and realize there is strong diagnosis for full recovery. Fletcher and his long term deals are almost like a curse. First Coots now Farabee …Hurt before they even start the new deal….Risto had better be careful at this rate. (Although some would think he is a curse all on his own).
Be interesting to see how quickly after the Cup is handed out that Fletch starts his process for a “aggressive retool”…or did we already see a lot of the new faces at the end of last year in guys like Brink, Attard, Cates and York? |

Even when they aren't playing games, they can't get out of their own way. |

In what way is this franchise worth the time we put into following it? |
|
|
|
This franchise is a petri dish for medical malpractice lawsuits and for a forensic report on coaching practices, drills, and ice conditions leading to the injuries.
Best thing that could happen is that the team plane is kidnapped by aliens and the NHL holds a disaster draft to start fresh... |

We have to wait for all the details come out but this team seems to have a history of putting off surgery to try less invasive therapies. Only after time having the player undergo the inevitable surgery, putting off his return time to the ice even further. |

I do not think it is the Doctors that should be in question. To me it is the process before and after the Doctors. UPENN has some of the best. Again it comes down to the Flyers incompetence.

Has Torts turned in his resignation yet? I mean, he has already discovered in his short stay here that the locker room is fractured and now he has lost his best young player for at least the start of the season(possibly due to a bumbling medical staff that delayed the process of recovery). Next!! |

Tortorella has not set one foot in the locker room. How has he discovered that the locker room is fractured?

Tortorella has not set one foot in the locker room. How has he discovered that the locker room is fractured? - MJL Only going by what someone said on here yesterday. They said based on his comments that he thinks the locker room is fractured and needs to be repaired. I'm not sure where he got it from? Perhaps the locker room is already repaired with the country clubbers( Voracek and Giroux) gone? |

Still stuck on facts not in evidence and blaming the two players who were the biggest part of why this team even had a chance over the last decade.

Giroux and Voracek were the faces of Flyers hockey for the worst decade in franchise history. I'm not a Giroux hater by any means, but I will always wonder about his true leadership qualities despite the fact that there is no denying his competitive nature.

Torts made that statement himself in the Jason M interview Bill linked. He did not say how he knew. |

Yep, Giroux couldn't single handedly overcome the lack of overall talent surrounding him over that decade. Despite having Hart trophy level seasons and putting up 100 points. So lets question his leadership qualities.

I'm aware of that. I'm also aware of what Tortorella does when he first arrives on a team.

Yes, Torts said the locker room is splintered, and that’s the first thing he plans on correcting. |

Tortorella has no idea factually if the locker room is splintered. What he does is he breaks everything down. Down to the ground to build it up the way he wants it. That's his team building method of coaching. Similar to a drill Sargent in the military. He's assuming that there is locker room issues because typically in a losing environment, there is some of that.

To me the #1 priority as a captain is to be the go between what the coach is trying to sell and then selling it to players in the room. Really have doubts that Giroux was good at that. Take Primeau back in the day 0f 2004 in which Torts referred to. Primeau totally bought into what Hitch was selling and he sold it well to the boys in the room. Thus that unexpected 2004 playoff run that only ended short of the Cup because of a spate of injuries on defense which led to Sami Kapanen having to play defense. Hell, Giroux just finished playing on a very talented Florida team in the playoffs and he was virtually invisible with the exception of games 5 and 6 against the Caps. |

Anytime a knife is involved in the spine or neck, no guarantees of full recovery for any human.
Let's hope he is a success story as well as Eichel. |

Come on man....he has no clue remember this?
He's not out of touch, he know thats not the situation but he knows fans are like that when the team is good which is considered his job to do. The fact is Flyers fans are pationate and if we have a team that performs like the 2004 team and gets to the 3rd round, the building will be like that again.
Torts will need to turn this team from Water to Wine to get there though
- xShoot4WarAmpsx
He is out of touch but it's okay. He's talking up the franchise and putting out PR. This organization's so called legacy has long since been dead. It simply doesn't exist anymore. It's ancient history. They need to build anew anyway.
The bold is you speaking....mr reading comprehension!!

Disagree that Giroux was virtually invisible in the playoffs. That's not correct. That 04 team was 1st in the division and 3rd overall in the Eastern conference. LOL. They had talent and Primeau had a quality supporting cast. Blaming Giroux for the last decade in any manner is asinine. |
