I really don't understand why, just because Jon Cooper decided to whine about a line change that looks like 20 others in every NHL game, every person writing about that game is now seemingly required to call it 'controversial.' Have you watched such little hockey that you actually think, "there were 6 men on the ice when the winning goal was scored" was something truly unusual or do you just think you need to call it controversial because a lot of the media did after Cooper whined about it? If Jared Bednar had decided to whine about the goal scored when Kuemper's mask came off, even though the refs made the correct call, would we be required to call that 'controversial' also?

Ryan McDonagh (who, if memory serves, plays for Tampa) said, "it was something that happens all the time" and "something players do often."

Because if enough people disagree about something, even if it's farcical like this was, it's by definition a "controversy".

Cooper though knows, he has to. He's been around long enough, he's won enough, he knows this is a line change like any other million line changes. He's mad because he's going to the coach whose team couldn't finish the three peat. So he's just lashing out. It's very telling when, as you said, a member of his own team has to say, "hey coach, we do this literally all the time."

Tampa had 7 players on the ice if you count it both ways. Also last year Tampa vs Islanders, anyways... Go Avs!

They are on a pinicle, the FIRST TEAM THAT WILL HAVE AN ASTEREK ON THE CUP!! I heard that besides Boston being in on the Kadri sweepstakes for his services next season the Lebanese Towellballs of the KHL coached by Mike Keenan, want him on their team at $10M for 5 years. Gotta go where the money is!

Cooper is whiny phucking lawyer who pukes out stupid words all the time. The Lightning lost because the Avs played a better game overall. Period. One bad call or noncall won't decide a game if you play 60 minutes better than the other team. I call it like it is. The loss sucked for Tampa, but Tampa lost because the Avs beat them. Not the refs. Ask Calgary fans if they have any sympathy for Tampa. A bad call got Tampa their first Cup.

At this point, the threepeat only happens if the Lightning pull off a historic comeback of epic proportions - which would be fitting for the first threepeat of the salary cap era. It would start with a win tonight. From day one in the playoffs, I said that this wasn't the Lightning's year. Lost too much depth due to the cap, injuries, the rest of the league watching tape and figuring the Bolts out - it just wasn't gonna happen this year. I stick to that. I'd love to be proved wrong though, but I don't expect to.

I expect the Avs to win the Cup on their home ice tonight. Let me be the first to congratulate them. Sakic built a solid contender and they deserve it. I thought the Leafs would beat the Bolts in the first round, so these last two series have been gravy for me. When Point went down two rounds ago, I said that's it, we're done. Now, watching this Avs team, I don't think Point would matter much, TBH.

Kuch, Stammer, Vasi, and Hedman - prove me wrong.

You've got a one goal lead and you're already giving this away?

This series was over before this game started. It's all over but the crying. This is just 60 minutes of crying.

"Helms got to get back to the middle," yeah Ray, only he can't because he's utterly exhausted. That's what happens when you can't clear. The man was practically bent over on the ice.
