How many men Tampa had on the ice during their change is completely irrelevant. As you said, they didn’t have possession.

If Kadri would have been standing next to McKinnon, 5 feet from bench, and took the pass, it would have been too many men. He was 40 feet away from McKinnon and he was 10 feet away from the bench.
