Clay Brewer: Preds Pending Sale
- Clay Brewer

I believe that Bill Haslem's buy-in to the Preds ownership team will be good for the entire organization. Some of the current owners, especially the elders, may be realizing that it's time to make a few life changes. I would think that several are wanting to cash in and move on, unwinding involvements.

Also, I can't help but feel that the current group has somewhat cocooned themselves in a make-no-waves comfort zone that has become a bit mundane - just go with the flow. Haslem will have the opportunity to change that if he so chooses, reinvigorating the soul of the organization with new blood and new life. I hope that's the path he chooses but I also realize that there are no guarantees. He may have different ideas and choose to simply blend into the status quo, but I doubt it.

Bill Haslem's entry is timely in other ways too, as it dovetails into other looming, inevitable changes. A prime example: no matter what one thinks of David Poile, he's 72+ and has to be looking to conclude his long NHL tenure at some point. The shifts in ownership will provide that opportunity for, if nothing else, a phased exit to some kind of emeritus status.

We may not see much of anything substantial for a year or two but after that, I feel changes will happen. Hopefully it will at least be interesting. Some elevated drama might be good too.

Would be nice to announce at his Introductory Press Conference the long term signing of Fillip Forsberg. Hopefully this means team spends to the Cap. Just Crazy they didn’t last year. You are basically spotting the rest of the League a star player when you play Cheap. Revenue from the Outdoor game alone should have allowed them to take on Salary.

Agreed!! Maker is awesome and going to win a lot of trophies, he just wasn’t the best Regular Season Defenseman this Season. Josi had a historic regular Season, and Nashville gets screwed in Voting again.

Scott Powers, The Athletic's Chicago writer left Josi completely off his ballot, not even a lowly 5th-place vote.

The post from OtF a few days ago:
So this is Scott Powers' answer on his Norris ballot.

“I honestly didn't think he was enough of a 2-way D-men to be considered for the award this season. His offense was special, but his defensive metrics were below average. The award shouldn't just be for the top offensive D-man. I could see where I maybe should have put him 4th/5th”

And he gets paid to cover hockey. Maybe he should have actually watched some tape or at least NHL Live.

So a polite way of saying F@$! Josi, he plays for the Predators. Doubt Powers leaves him off the ballot if he plays for anyone else other than the Blues. At least our favorite Hawks trolls on these boards would've been honest about it.

Makar is awesome though. 28 goals for D-men is ridiculous, even in that offense. Maybe if Josi had hit the 100 point mark, those two achievements would've canceled each other out. Not the only factors I know, but two of the more interesting ones.

Makar is awesome that's for sure. He'll be exciting to watch for many years.

Tonight's game will be a good one I think. Can the Avs seal the deal? TB is good. And sneaky. And savvy. And experienced.
