Karine Hains: Never a Dull Moment The Canadiens might not have made the playoffs, but the chatter never stops in Montreal.

Furthermore, both the fans and media have got to get over the idea that every single Quebecer wants to “come home”. Daniel Brière used the Canadiens as leverage to get big money deals before “coming home” when he was pretty much running out of gas. George Laraque signed when his career was all but done, Mathieu Perreault and Cedric Paquette hardly had any impact this season, do I really need to go on? Add to that the fact that Philip Danault explained at length how easier it is to play in LA in his end of season postmortem and it seems clear to me that home isn’t heaven for NHL players.

bah, there aren't that many Quebecers in the NHL, I think it's normal that there's talk about it when it's concerning a good player. besides, Letang confirmed he actually would like to wear a habs jersey, so...

Bergeron already confirmed he'd retire a Bruin, and it's exactly what it says in the blog...

As stated previously, the Habs are not signing any big name free agents this year.

They will wait and sign a couple of guys as fillers, on cheap contracts, in case some of the kids show they are not ready. And if the kids are ready, easy contracts to bury in the AHL.

Until Price and Weber (and / or a few others) are off the books, gonna be a wait and see how the kids do before dishing out money / term to anyone.

That is how I see it.

The only way the Habs take a big contract (more than likely mid-season, when the LITR has kicked in quite a bit) in a trade, and they get some really big compensation as part of that trade.

They will try to get a defenseman if they move Petry this summer, but it won't be Letang. I would be shocked.

ouin, mais dans ce cas-ci c'est tellement improbable que ça vaut pas la peine de continuer d'en parler, à mon humble avis... le gars a été un bruins toute sa vie, et il a confirmé vouloir se retirer en tant que bruins, point final

Gonna be some useful veteran tier 3 Dman, regardless if Petry stays or not, just in case the kids run into some trouble.

Wideman (or Wideman-like) likely the guy they try to resign.

If he was gonna sign elsewhere, it is gonna be for a team that has a chance to win, not this poopshow.

That being said, not gonna sign elsewhere.

GM already said he did not want 3 rookies on the blue line next season, so yes, they are getting a defenseman if they move Petry. And not just a 6th defenseman in my opinion.

Maybe they will try to get Chiarot back. A puck moving defenseman would be better, but we'll see.
