Some of these contracts the Flyers hand out make no sense. Are the Flyers going to actually re-sign Strome and Sushko? If so, why?

Wow, that's a choking situation for the Reading Royals as Terry Murray would say.

Sushko doesn't look close to being an NHL player from what I have seen and all I ever hear about Strome is that he needs to work on his skating. The Flyers organization must lead the league in drafting guys that NEED TO WORK ON THEIR SKATING!

I'm more worried about the players that don't have to work on skating and why they are always 2 steps behind everyone else.

Why not put them together on the 3rd pair then the Flyers could have another twin towers like Rathje and Hatcher...ok I just threw up in my mouth.

Is Ginning anyone to get excited about? Does he project as an NHL'er? I know nothing about him.

Has good size, defensive defenseman with not much offensive punch, hits without being reckless and getting out of position

Yes, he's a smart defensive defenceman with strong leadership qualities. I hope he develops into a strong 5-6 defenceman and kill penalties for us. Not expecting anything for another 2-3 years though.

Ginning is a 2nd round pick in 2018, has good size and has been playing in a top league in Sweden. Was also captain for Sweden at the WJCs. The Flyers really can't afford to miss on high picks like this so happy he will be signed and looking forward to seeing him play over here.

I know nothing about Ginning either. Looked up his stats, and his PIM totals seem quite high for some seasons. Does anyone know if he's prone to taking penalties, or am I misinterpreting the stats, and they're actually fine? Or are the numbers inflated by fighting majors?

Hopefully Hayes wins the Masterson. Miss him on NYR. Can't think of many people who went through what he and his family did this season. I mean...Chara nominated for being old and not wanting to spend time with his family?

Well there’s your answer. The player with no NHL experience and we know nothing about, makes Ristolainen expendable.

Bill,
Why is there a hold up to sign mcclennon?
If they kept players like ruby and leberge (and many more useless contracts) why do they hesitate to sign this kid?!

53 pms in 50 games translates to a little over one penalty every other game. This past season he had 42 pms in 51 games. I don't see it as having an inordinate amount of penalties.

Watching him at the world juniors he was a vacuum cleaner. Granted he was playing against other kids, but plays went to die in his area of the defensive zone. He has good size, can skate well, and was named captain of that team.

Thanks. Those two most recent seasons aren't too concerning. The numbers that initially jumped out to me were the 2-3 seasons before that. And basically averaged a minor per game in 2020 world juniors play.
I'm certainly not trying to nit-pick. Was just curious if that was something he had a rep for.

He likes to lay the body and hit a bit so in that way yes. And in the world juniors games he was noticeably bigger than a lot of those players so sometimes (imo) he got penalized for being too big.
