The story of the playoffs so far, beyond the goalie craziness, is the number of penalties being called. In some series, the rash of calls goes until the end of the 2nd and usually no more than a single call in the third. The series generally favors the team that has the best PP. If the calls were consistent, then you could probably live with it, but I prefer the battle to the special teams crap. I can understand protecting the skill guys from goon by ejecting a player, but has that even happened? Slew foot takedown, results in a fine. Head shot or pushing into the boards, just 2. Meanwhile everything that looks like a hockey play is called a hold or a slash.

Goals, for the most part, are up in all series. When they are low scoring, it's a goalie battle. But the refs are doing their part to influence the high scoring games. 8-14 penalties, not to mention at least a dozen 4v4 situations. In the first round. Crazy.

If only the Oilers' series could see some of those 7 and 8 penalties per team games that some other series' are getting. Instead, 3 or 4 per team and always the same number per side. I prefer the call everything approach to the strategically pick and choose when to call penalties to make it look relatively equal at the end of the night.

Anyone watching this game. Wow the Oilers are sucking. They have no answer for the Kings pressure. This is hard to watch.

They have Ceci playing in their top pair D. What did you expect? Their D is abysmal and the rest of the team can't make up for it.

All these years and the same problem. Chiarelli trades two picks for Reinhardt instead of using them to pick Chabot and Carlo. The next year he takes Puljujarvi instead of taking Sergachev or Chychrun and instead gives away Hall for Larsson. That incompetent cretin and the impatience of the Oiler fan base cost the franchise any chance of winning anything in the post season.

Their existing forward crew at the time just needed a little tweaking while their newly drafted D matured for a couple of years and they needed a goalie and they would have won at least one Cup by now and would have been perennial serious Cup contenders.

If thats not a suspension (Nurse), I don't know what is. That was worse than the Wideman headbutt. Just dumb and so unnecessary.
I didn't think the Kings had a chance after the Oil tied it up... Anything can happen in the playoffs...

I am wondering about that too.. but sadly with the position the Oilers are in, i think the league might hand out a fine at the most. heaven forbid the league suspend a player or two from one team for an elimination game.

me too.. . i was stunned (happily) with how the Kings came out in OT. I was not expecting that. and even though it had no bearing on the play, it was awesome to see Kane slip and go down.

Nurse has a hearing with Dops so he’ll miss at least a game. Guessing Kane gets off with a fine.

Kane spent the whole game trying to injure someone instead of focusing on playing his game. Draisitle -3 in the first 2 periods is unacceptable,
Man McDavid is a scarey player.

Looking foran Oiler fans take, do you think 29 & 97 getting so much icetime in all situations affects the team chemistry as they sit on the bench watching? Seems they’re on the ice all the time.

A lot of those games are rife with fights. The Oilers got the benefit of a few softies called, and had every reason to go on to win. They let go an obvious headbutt. In turn they missed maybe a high stick or punch to Kane, but he was the author of his own blood.

I saw a lot let go for the Kings on clutching etc., but at the same time a lot of missed call picks by the Oilers.

My point was that many other series' have had games where PPs were like 5 to 7 or 8 to 5 meaning special teams were playing a bigger role. Since special teams is an area in which the Oilers are excelling right now, it would be nice to see the games be called like those other ones in which most infractions are called (non-traditional).

I don't care if it's the Oilers who end up with more or not; just consistency.

100% he should get a suspension. Game five and that’s the crap he is doing! Regular season or playoffs that should be at least 3 games. As far as mcDavid and Leon seemed like they were still gassed from playing pretty much the whole third period.

I’m not sure what Nurse’s suspension history is, but I just watched that replay five or six times, and there’s no way he gets less than five games. If this was the regular season, I’d guess ten. That was one of the dirtiest moves I’ve ever seen.

100%. The entire first round has been painful to understand why this is called and not that.
