More than just the shots favored the Avs in Game 2. The Avs were better in every significant category at even strength:

Game 1

High Danger Chances: COL 9 NSH 9
CF% COL 63 NSH 37
Scoring Chances For COL 22 NSH 16
xGF% COL 2.08 NSH 1.63

Game 2

High Danger Chances: COL 17 NSH 11
CF% COL 71 NSH 29
Scoring Chances For COL 42 NSH 21
xGF% COL 3.51 NSH 1.56

Ingram was unconscious, he played incredibly well. Hockey is a funny game, subject to random variance (an AHL goalie in his 4th start playing out of his mind) more than any other major sport and the Preds could have won despite how well Colorado played.

On the one hand I was 100% confident that at some point the dam was just going to break and Ingram couldn't keep it up forever. On the other, it definitely had that feel of a game where the team getting caved in eventually gets the lucky bounce and steals it.

I hear you, I kept bouncing back and forth between both notions. It was an incredible relief to see the puck hit the back of the net - our seats are at that end looking right over that goal - I really stared at it to make sure it was in there and then saw all the Avs sticks in the air. But that was exactly the sort of game where you do everything right and end up losing. I still felt bad for Ingram - but not that bad.
