Was going at it with a Habs writer on twitter who seems convinced PLD wants out and an offer of Dvorak a late first this year (not their top pick but one the have from Florida) and another mid round pick crap prospect would get it done.
He was being serious!!!! If Chevy is not fired after the season and then proceeded to make this trade, I’d suspect, he wouldn’t be safe in public.

The only reason I could see an issue with PLD wanting to stay, is if the team doesn't commit to a direction. The Jets are good at locking guys up long term, and if PLD is only locked up on a short term deal, I may be a bit worried about his future. He has established himself as a very strong 1B option, and it will depend a lot on how Scheifele is handled this coming year. If Scheifele is gone, I think PLD stays for sure. If Scheifele stays and they have a balanced tandem of centres, I think PLD is happy with that, but if Scheifele stays as the teams clear cut 1st line C, and PLD is a 2nd line C, rather than a balance, I could see some frustration. I think it will mostly all just come down to the coaching staff next year. I think PLD wants to stay, so as long as the situation stays healthy, there wont be an issue

I agree with this assessment completely.

in response to Jetfuel from the last thread who made a solid point about Copp

"Playing with Panarin doesn't hurt."

It is huge for Copp to be playing with Panarin - but more than PPG in NY? and with those stone hands? He never approached this kind of consistency even when playing with 55,27, 80 or 81. My point was that most Jets players have played below expectations this year.

When Copp played with 55,27,81 or 80 I believe he produced at a .80 ppg. Pretty good. He does have stone hands, absolutely, it’s why he should never be on a third line, he can drive play, but not be the catalyst for offence. Putting him on a third line is a waste, letting him play with offensive guys in a top 6 role where he can drive play and help those guys, is where he’s best suited

Jets will sign PLD, unless the money demands are ridiculous.

Copp should've been the Jets 3C years ago.

Well Panarin is on a different level than 55, 27, 80 or 81 are.

Copp never excited me in the top 6 but he was fairly productive when he was there for the most part. I really liked Copp as a bottom six center but he was useless as a bottom six winger, he was truly wasted as the 3LW.

Have they? To me I'd say they played below unrealistic expectations other than Scheifele playing disinterested more often than not which was disappointing more then anything. This is what most of these guys are, the people who were expecting more weren't thinking clearly or misjudged the talent level of a lot of these guys.

A bit surprised to see Chaz Lucious sign, but happy about it!! Always nice to get the US guys signed. There was a tweet out of Minny, his family wasn’t happy with His team in Minny?

It will be interesting to see where he plays next year. I think there are huge benefits to Manitoba Moose in the AHL, but don't forget Portland still owns his rights in the WHL. It will be nice to see him play closer to Winnipeg, and able to move around a bit if he needs to. I like the signing a lot, I haven't seen any updates on how he/his family feels about the Gophers organization, but definitely a surprising change.

Ya there was a tweet out his family wasn’t happy with the Gophers, which is interesting cause his brother (Cruz) is slated to go there next year. Cruz, also projected to be a 2nd round pick this year, Jets likely to have to 2-2nd rounders. I’d say possible they take him.

I also have the Jets grabbing a goalie in round 2 or 3 this year.

My prediction is he plays the whole year in the Moose and doesn’t sniff the Jets. Can’t see them wanting to burn a year on his deal yet. He has also not played a lot the last two years because of injuries so a full year in the AHL would go along a way.

I also hope they let him play the whole year at Center!!! Don’t flip flop him like they did with Perfetti.

Interesting graphic on Sportsnet. Mark Scheifele has the third longest PPG per season streak at 6 seasons. Only two forwards with longer streaks: Crosby and McDavid!

Scheifele is a type of forward that teams should be signing long-term, not looking to trade. Kind of reminds of how Johnny Gadreau was being talked about in Calgary last year.

It’s surprising that Lucious left the U after saying he would return. Lucious was really impressive there at his age. The Gophers have some guys in the transfer portal. They have some elite freshman coming in(Cooley, Snuggerud, Chesley). Chaz has been injury prone so I wonder if his beef could be with the medical staff. He’s really good and I hope he can stay healthy. Someone called him a Kyle Connor clone. That could be a stretch.

The performance of Comrie needs some attention, he was solid with confident saves on some high danger. chances.

I liked the Sportsnet piece on his focus during the commercial time out showing him on one knee with stick rested upright. Shades of Jedi Master, Qui-Gon Jinn mid battle with Darth Maul.

Thanks Jacob for your articles. The Jets have to be smart what they do this offseason. I hope that the Jets don't trade Scheifele or Wheeler until the new head coach has an opportunity to see if they can play in his system. The Jets will never win any trade involving Scheiefle but they should try to get a top end player or at the very least an NHL ready prospect and a #1 draft pick.

If you watched the Chipman interview I’d say he has no plans in firing Chevy or making any massive changes.

It’s long over due for fans and media to admit and discuss just how involved (and responsible!!!!) Chipman is for all thing Jets

The blame for failures need to Be more soley directed at him.

Been wondering for awhile if maybe Chipman is a meddling owner.

I don't think it as much meddling, as it is loyalty to his people.

I have a challenging time criticizing Chipman for the fact that he did spearhead the effort for Winnipeg to be part of the NHL again. If the board of directors of the team have no problem with him meddling, what can anyone really say?

Sad to see that this is Dennis Beyak's last Jet game. He could make a funeral sound exciting.

Hopefully Paul Edmunds of CJOB is his replacement. He's very good, as well.

Anyone see the Shiefele interview? The guys is talking like he has both feet out the door already. He’s talking like a UFA, not someone with 2 years left on his deal.
I also thought Stastny was talking about Shiefele in his post game.

Going to be an interesting summer around here

Yea, I heard the interview and agree with what you're saying.

Scheifele basically saying he's in his prime and wants to play with SC contender. Has questions for management with direction. He's not sure which way he's leaning - check with agent, family, etc. Huh?

Stastny saying that he wants accountability, and it's not all about stats, and he wants accountability. Some players have to be team players. Wonders what the results would have been if HE, Wheeler and Ehlers had played together all season. In other words, not Scheifele.

Now you have to wonder do the Jets trade Scheifele for that #1 RD d-man+ - sign Stastny at about $3 Mill a season for two years, and then have Perfetti ready to step in at C. Don't you?

Would you think there's a little friction there?
