Im tired of the NHL and its insane method of doling out discipline. He absolutely deserved a game --probably 2. But 4? Especially after repeatedly watching Wilson and Marchant get half of what they deserve when they get suspended? The Dept of player safety is a complete joke.

Funny! He gets 4 for this incident but only 1 game when he takes a baseball bat swing at Rafl’s head a few years ago! Could’ve killed him! If I’m the Rangers, take little shots at him after the whistle because it’s been proven time and again; Malkin Hates getting even remotely touched! He will retaliate!

Post the video of wilson doing worse and not getting suspended this year.

Should have been more games. They need to start cracking down way harder on players if they intentionally cross check someone in the head. Start with 15-20 games, regardless of injury and I bet players might start controlling themselves. As a pens fan we will miss Malkin for the next 4 games but really, the dude deserves more than 4 games.

Love the stance of stupidity by some here. "Previous suspensions weren't long enough, therefore this one is too long."

It's not too long based on what he did...but compared to other suspensions, it seems a bit harsh. But I think most suspensions are too lenient.

I have watched Sid and Geno get maimed far too many times to believe that Malkin deserved 4 or more for this. How many times was Crosby cross checked over the years by Brandon Dubinsky... And Dubinsky got ONE GAME. Malkin absolutely deserved a 2 game suspension. But after years of watching Lemieux, Jagr, Crosby, and Malkin get practically assaulted with little to no suspension, I have very little stomach to see a 4 game ban thrown for this.
See David Shaw high stick Lemieux in the 80's. Adam Graves slash and break Lemieux's wrist in a playoff game and Graves only was suspended for 4 games...
Watch pretty much any Flyers vs Pens game since 1984 and you will see worse. Heck, watch a post whistle scrum in the playoffs and you will see worse.
The biggest issue is the Lack of consistency with the NHL and how it doles out discipline.

It has been very clear for years to anyone paying attention how you play Malkin. Just consistently body him, bump, him and run him. He basically has $hit for brains and will invariably blow a gasket sooner or later, hurting his team in the process. Sid learned a long time ago how to play through that stuff and and thus remains a vastly superior player to Malkin.

I don't disagree about the innumerable crosschecks that get doled out during play. But, trying to compare this one to those is homerism. He crosschecked a guy in the mouth. Period. How on earth people are clamoring for leniency is beyond me.
