Think you meant to say the Ducks had to eat half of Mansons salary.

He seemed to be out of the lineup with injuries a lot this past 2 seasons.

I think this is an overpayment for a UFA but I like the player a lot. Reminds me of the trade Tampa made last year to get David Savard

Plenty of this bothers me. Joe is feeling the heat and is in " win now " mode and I get it . But trading a good prospect and yet another draft pick for a UFA that will prob not sign with Colorado is concerning . Most people think Joe isn't done making trades. If any more trades go down I hope some of these lost draft picks will be coming back our way, and I hope He uses current roster players instead of prospects . I am sure teams are asking about Hooker and Baron. Guys like JT, Girard and Jost should be the ones dangled as far as future trades should go.

Eh, we gave a 2nd round pick and the equivalent of a 2nd round pic for that equivalent's future self. It sucks losing Helleson, for sure, but perhaps this indicates Byram will return and if he still part of the long term plan we could afford to lose one of either Helleson or Barron. We kept the right one, for now at least. But we're in win now mode and keeping draft picks doesn't help them win cups. The core is still very young, trade in the lottery picks.
Teams can ask all they want about Newhook, he isn't going anywhere. Who is going to play 2C next year? Not a chance he gets traded, and if he does I will publicly announce that I believe Eklund is a prophet. You're right that trading JTC and Jost works best for our team, but no one is just salivating to trade away their top TDL asset for either of them. 2023 1st is as good as gone, and that's AOK.

I would love to see Girard and Jost go, I think JTC has some value in the playoffs but if he doesnt perform then I would trade him in the off season for draft picks.

you guys are insane for thinking the avs trade girard, particularly this season (MAYBE they trade him before his contract expires, maybe); he’s had a down year for sure thus far but he’d still be a top pairing or middle pairing guy on literally every other team in the league. there’s zero reason to move him unless you’re getting a much better defender in return, of which there are literally none available now that Chicryun is hurt.

Reasoning for trading him is that he is a liability in his own zone in the playoffs and gets easily pushed around. Vegas absolutely dominated him last season in the 6 game series. With Byram coming in and Manson already here, we dont need him. His cap space can go towards other assets

Well, Jost is off to the Wild for Sturm, Avs save 1M and get bigger on the bottom 6 which was needed. Sakic is far from done though if I had to guess

Excellent trade with Jost. Guess the Wild are hoping for the whole "change of scenery" thing in their favor.
