Hey you guys hear the rumour about Yzerman shopping Zadina? Whaaaaaat? Yzerman also sees that he's a bust and figures let's get something for him while I can. If he was picked in the 6th round he'd be worthless, but guys picked 6th overall retain some value a bit longer. If Zadina gets dumped I wonder how many people will criticize Yzerman for drawing conclusions at age 22. Haha. This will be fun.

What I would give to have bernier back. Goaltending has been really bad now for awhile now. This team was showing improvements now looks to be slipping back again. I still say Blashill needs to go.

Zadina for Branstrom rumor was created by speculating journalists. But yeah, recently Freidman postulated that Zadina might be shopped. I don't think he is a bust, he has learned a 2-way game and has all the good instincts but is snakebit, squeezing the stick too hard, and having hard luck, ALL AT ONCE! He is only 22 and a change of scenery may do a lot to get him going....or keeping him for 1 more year may do him well too....Z in a package for a veteran young LD would be good too....then bring up Berggren.

To your point.... Zadina had at least 4 or more prime / quality scoring chances in the first period and Fleury stood on his head to make the saves on several of them. He definitely looked snakebit. If he keeps getting those kinds of quality chances he'll get some goals eventually. Just have to keep at it and not lose his confidence.

I would like to see Zadina remain....but I am not opposed to trading him for a good young LD with term or an RFA

So it was presumptuous speculation by a credible journalist.

Man, the guy is a (frank)ing idiot if that's what he took away from the article.

After just three games with the Griffins, Abdelkader is off to Beijing. He has been released from his PTO and will join the U.S. Olympic team in Beijing as an alternate. Abdelkader could be added to the roster if the team runs into injury or COVID-related issues. He did not record a point in his three AHL contests.

Honestly if he is happy continuing to play wherever he can, good for him.

As much as it drove me nuts that he was continuing to take up an NHL roster spot with significantly sub-NHL skills, and as much as I criticized him as a player, it was never personal.

Would he still make a decent bottom-to-middle-six forward at the AHL level? Probably. If he wants to come back to West Michigan after the Olympics and take, like, Jonathon Martin's job I am 100% okay with that.
