Only thing that matters is Drury isn’t one of those people. He has been trying to make a move for weeks |

it's like Sean Connery to Kevin Costner in the Untouchables
"everyone knows where the booze is Mr. Ness, but do you have the balls to do something about it"
everyone knows what the weaknesses are, does Drury have the balls to do something about it
we shall see

It's exciting to see what he does. If he goes big its a sign of things to come. Where the hope of a big move could happen every season. Love GMs with balls |

Drury still looking to impress his boss in his new role and put his stamp on this team. Moves are coming whether people like it or not. |

Imagine if there was Twatter back when Graves was scoring the same goals Kreider does. Would there be the same trolling? |

Exactly. Danal will not stand for no upgrade to go for it after that was made clear and we are possible contenders. |

It's been reported he has been trying to make a move for weeks but other GMs weren't ready. It's 100% happening |

Whenever I deep dive into stats, Jonathon Toews always stands out as a perfect fit to me. Only issue is the cap hit next season. Chicago would have to eat like 75% of his salary.
Wins almost 60% of draws, veteran with a few cups, could really player anywhere in the top 9 and special teams.
He probably finishes that contract in Chicago or is traded at next years deadline, but one can dream! |

everything should be on the table
January 2014 I never would have imagined in a few short weeks we'd end up with Martin St Louis, and then we did and got propelled to the finals

Don’t understand how anyone can be upset by that. It’s been a few years now of talking about a rebuild. By most measures the team did a great job completing a quick turnaround. Now is the time to make a run.
And you know what? If it doesn’t work out this year or next and the team needs to continue the rebuild…so be it! They can always go back to selling assets for futures. Failing in going for it leads right back to where people want them to stay put. |

Pretty sure the maximum allowed to retain on a contract is 50%. |

There isnt just one trade needed. Too many holes to fill, the usual trade pieces everyone talks about have reduced value due inconsistent play. Nils, Chytil, etc so If we do add a significant piece it might wind up being KK or Laf or Miller traded. Going all in on rentals is a very risky move if they dont win the Cup!! Four or the top 6 are producing and 3 of our 6 defense man are solid. We have one of the top 3 goaltenders in the world. The rest have been inconsistent. Playoffs are a different game, no telling what will happen.
Four years of missing the playoffs and rebuilding to winning the Cup would be very unusual. |

Kreider and Trouba are having career years. You just can't assume it will happen again next year or future years. Plus you only are guaranteed another 4 years of Panarin and Igor. Why wait another year "Hoping" the kids get better. Laf and Kakko haven't shown any signs yet they can be the guys. Losing a top prospect or two or a first round pick will not ruin the franchise. |

That’s all fair. But the cap space for this year is available. I can’t imagine Drury doesn’t see the same points you point out.
If he can plug holes without truly emptying the cupboard (I’m thinking one high end prospect and the first), is that something you could get down with? |

I don't know how does a team with "many holes" sit in first place in the standings in a very top heavy division? |

Got it. Still possible I suppose but basically means swapping Strome for Toews next season unless a 3rd team is brought in. Not sure I love it in that case.
Amazing how Strome has changed most peoples opinions of him this season. |

To be fair, it would be better if we could get some additional secondary scoring and one more true shutdown dman. That said, the team’s secondary scoring has been completed by an all hands on deck approach with clutch goals by all. And the groans about Nemeth and, particularly, Miller are overblown. |
