Perfetti has high hockey IQ and talent but will need to work on his speed.
His skating is calculated and seems to get where he needs to be but the message will be to work on speed / pace. Just mop. |

Great breakdown. All of the elements of a star is clearly there, and his footspeed is fine, but just needs to learn the pace of the league. The Jets haven't had too many really young star players in a little while, so it's a bit of an adjustment to watch again, but it is completely normal for the first dozen or so games, sometimes it even takes a full season to really get it.
I look at Stutzle on the Senators, who clearly had all the talent in the world last season, but coming from the DEL was a real change of scenery. Just have to get a grasp on how the NHL plays |

I don't disagree at all but I really think he should be working on his foot speed in the AHL, he's been fine but only has one point in 6 games and this team is clearly going nowhere with or without Perfetti this season, I can't see any good reason to waste year one of his ELC.
This team sucks, Chevy has a lot of work to do. |

I agree. If the Jets lose to the pens today , which is highly likely , then I'm pretty much throwing in the towel on the Jets this season. Scheif, in particular, who has been one of my favorite Jets in the past, has looked horrific this season. He doesn't seem to care anymore, glides to the bench, skated right by a rebound last night, not finishing checks, terrible backchecking, etc etc. If they traded him for 2023 first-round pick plus a player then I would not lose sleep. I'm now agreeing with Ross here.

Scheif is having a rough season - he is still worth more than a 1st and a prospect, unless its a hell of a prospect. He hasn't been our best player in many - if any- games this season, very un-55 like. Probably needs a good long look in the mirror to decide what kind of a player he wants to be and what he wants his legacy to be. |

hypothetical:
If Dave Lowry doesn’t have the interim tag removed to become the head coach and another coach is brought in does that poison the relationship with Adam Lowry? And vice-versa?
If CHevy has another coach in mind perhaps it is time to shop Adam as well.
Chevy is starting to look like he knows how to draft, develop and manage but doesn’t know how to get to the next level. What does the dog do when he catches the car? |

Jets should have been up 6-1 after two periods. They blow the lead and lose the game.
Jets just seem to find ways to lose. |

Among the Jets forwards, where do Scheifele and Wheeler rank these days ?
I have them behind Connor, Dubois and Ehlers.
Copp is closing in on both of them.

Scheifele is probably at 4.
Copp, Svech, and now Perfetti are above Wheeler |

Perfetti has looked great, no way should they send him down. first thing this team needs to do is play its best players. for far to long ice time has been dished out by paycheck, not play. |

Scheif is PO'd at the world and it is because of his contract. His perceived peers are all making more than he and he is not happy.
Now, having said that, which a little bird told me, he is worth more than a 1st. With 6 mill cap for 2 more years @ 6.125. So, that is a pretty good cap for a very talented but disgruntled player. That contract alone is worth something for this type of player.
It might be time to get young again and clear the cupboard of Scheif, Copp, Schmidt, Stanley, Beau, perhaps Wheels.
Copp is awesome but he might not want to re-sign here. I would keep Dillion over Schmidt, but need room for Samberg, Chisholm. |

Poor Markie....only making 6 million + per year. When you sign long term, this is what happens. You get security, it has a price.

I forgot need room for Heinola as well. I'd say clear the cupboard as this team is going nowhere and one of the perceived leaders in Scheif is refusing to do his duty on the defensive side which is very apparent.
Build the new team around PLD, KC, Ehlers, Morrisey, Pionk and get some value on these other assets. Time to move on from the old core and start stocking picks. |

Can't imagine a defence with 3 undersized ( 4 if you count DeMelo) d-men on it. Opponents are camping out in front of Helly far too easily this year.

I am in the camp on an entire new coaching staff with new ideas and systems.. give me Rikard Gronberg head coach with Cami Granato and dealer choices for the other Assistants and lets see what they can do with 55. but I'm also not opposed to trading him if and only if a team stepped up like a Florida who offers Lundell and a first. or something along those lines. his cap only adds to his value but the 2 years left would only appeal to a team thinking they can win in those two years. |

Reality is that Lowry, Huddy, Compon, Flaherty etc...have been here for quite some time. If they had any brilliant ideas, they surely would have shared them with Maurice.
The coaching staff needs to go.

I agree! It’s time to bring in a coach that needs reclamation. I am on the Mike Babcock train.
Also this talk about moving Scheifele is nuts. You guys have lost your minds. |

I am fine with giving Samberg a free pass as he dips his toes in the NHL. He has been bad, and Stanley makes much better use of that TOI, but I understand wanting to see where he is at.
Vesalainen is useless. Zero offense, and the big boy plays a very soft game. The only reason he is getting so many chances with this team is because he is a former 1st round selection. Can't wait to see Gus get healthy and hopefully bump Ves off of the roster.

One goal in 8 games isn't great, the best place for Perfetti right now is the AHL. |

I wouldn't say Samberg has been bad, had a rough start to that game is all, Schmidt has been really struggling for awhile now.
The Jets entire bottom six is useless and the leader of that uselessness is the coach's kid, ffs does #17 need to go away and he can take his old man with him, new boss same as the old boss!
Could be argued its been Chevys biggest failure as a GM, not improving the Jets bottom six and getting some secondary scoring. |

Chevy does seem to draft fairly well, he seems to struggle with the transition of some of these drafted and developed prospects into the Jets lineup though, he really needs to clear some guys out so some younger players can slide into the lineup.
Not saying these kids should be handed a spot but signing useless veterans that are well past their best before date and trading for unnecessary dmen is counterproductive.
