thanks Karine
the information given during the press conference was fairly vague to some extent, but that was to be expected. anyway Hughes looks like a confident guy, and with him and Gorton it should be a very different tenure than what we had with just Bergevin at the helm..
concerning Price, the way Molson spoke about the situation has me thinking that perhaps his personnal issues might not be completely resolved yet, which is completely understandable, you don't get rid of such problems once and for all after a simple 30-day program. |

and I guess many will still believe in the "puppet theory" but Hughes doesn't strike me as just a "yes-man", and I think he'll have a lot more weight in the decision-making than what has been speculated. |

there is a certain logic behind it, considering Gorton was the first one to be approached by Molson and basically was leading the interview process, but if they're smart enough they didn't get a guy like Hughes just so he can be told what to do, they got him because he has his own opinions and point of view, and will bring something different to the table. |

How big or aggressive they go with a rebuild remains to be seen, but I feel like this new dou of President and Gm have the patience and tactics to totally rebuild if required. My hope is that they're truthful in saying changing the culture and making everyone with a job position in this organization feel like they're helping move things forward. Being bad enough to draft high is actually pretty easy. Having the personal to pick the right kids, develop them and add the right pieces is something we habs fans haven't seen in decades. Here's hoping 🤞🤞 |

I think Jeff Gorton picked someone with some distinctive skill sets that isn't afraid to give his opinions, but also can see other people's opinions and advice and meaningfully use that to move things forward. Having a team is great if you can work together.... in hockey and many other aspects of life. This is why Roy never stood a chance. |

sadly for him I think his chances to be coach are also slim, we'll see, perhaps they'll stick with Ducharme for next year too, who knows... |

obviously it will depends on what Hughes sees in DD, but more than that, it will depend on what they do with the team.
let say they're able to trade 3-4 players this summer and expect to tank again next year, there's no point in bringing a new coach. as a GM you don't want to burn your guy with a mediocre team expected to lose. in that case I could see DD stay. if of course Hughes thinks DD can be a good coach for the kids, which I do not doubt. |

not sure they'll be "expecting to tank", I doubt they'll do it willingly at least. |

not willingly I agree, but tank, not make the playoffs... lets not play on words. this team won't make the playoffs. so why bring a new coach while you still pay the previous one. you want to give your guy the best chance of winning.

I get what you're saying, but they could very well already have a guy in mind and give him a 5-year contract, which gives the opportunity to their new coach to be part of the team-building process and also to eventually start winning games.

on the contrary, if they just tweak the team and think they can compete next year... DD could be gone. |

I know a lot of people hate him, but I find it's a bit unfair to completely assess the quality of his work as coach based only the current season. |
