Carol Schram: Struggling to score, Canucks fall to 0-3-0 after matinee loss to the Canes Another day, another loss on the Vancouver Canucks' tough five-game road trip. On Saturday, the club dropped a 4-1 decision to the Carolina Hurricanes, in front of a surprise start for Thatcher Demko.

Canes have had way more too 100 picks than the Canucks over the past 3 years and still have more picks in this upcoming draft than the Canucks

They must be rebuilding and the Canucks must be contending

Well done Carol agree give Martin a shot tomorrow.

Demko looks a bit drained and could use the break.

Go Nucks!

Thanks Carol. Disagree with giving Martin a shot. It's getting into must win territory on this trip. You go with your best in those scenarios.

Or their GM was just infinitely better than Benning.

I disagree with yourself and Carol

Demko was nowhere close to being the reason they lost today. The team didn't actually play that bad IMO, it's just what happens when you start to face teams that are actually really good while the canucks frankly aren't as skilled as the last 3 teams they have faced.

Never said he's the reason we lost that's assuming. Just saying he needs a break is all. He'll bounce back kid is a stud. Chances are good the team will not beat the Caps tomorrow so throw a wrench at them and start Martin. Kid might surprise.

Aren't they coming off a break?
They grow up playing back to back in all sorts of tournaments. This isn't much different. Watch the games. There's no way any of this is on Demko. He looked fine.

I disagree with everyone here. Start Martin to give the Caps a false sense of “easy win vs no name goalie” and then pull him for Demko about 10-15 minutes into the game.

Another weird year. Stop /start , postpose, maybe play? Hard to judge where they stand as a team.

I do think more change is needed but it is hard to determine where the changes are needed. I sort of feel for JR and gang trying to figure this out?

I think if Canucks came into this road trip without the big layoff it would have been so much easier to tell where they stand. Falling short and playing well in the first two games of the trip , was it because they were rested, or did the rust hurt them.

Demko looked rusty all three games but again these were three very good teams. I still think that there could be excuses for the play but eventually you need to find a way to overcome excuses.

His timing is just slightly off. People who don't really know the position assume that has to do with being tired. It has more to do with anticipation. If anything more game work is needed to sharpen things up between him and his Dmen, not more rest.

His lateral work and angles are fine. Those would be the first to go if he was injured or fatigued.

I'll bet he wants to get right back in there. To me he looked like he was finally settling into his normal groove as the 3rd progressed. I think that one play where he slid into the corner chasing might have woke him up and made him realize he had to sit back a bit more.

It's the top 3ish teams in the league. We aren't suppose to win. Rutherford said this give us an idea about what we are. Now we know. Love it. They've played decent. Just need more talent.

The Panthers are up 4-0 on Columbus after 1. They just keep steamrolling teams. With recent context our 5-2 loss doesn't look so bad there now.

Can’t help but feel that Boeser or Pettersson will be on their way out, and it’ll be within a month. JR is already shopping Brock around.
