Theo Fox: Knocked Out Cold A summary of the Blackhawks vs Rangers game that was marred not by just the 6-2 thrashing by New York but also by the Jacob Trouba hit that knocked out Jujhar Khaira.

Plus, quick thoughts on Chicago's pending free agents heading into the offseason.

* Wyatt Kalynuk was neither good nor bad defensively; while his passing needs to be sharper, he showed he can escape the zone with the puck but needs to have those rushes be more productive.

The final score picture features Kalynuk and the first thing to notice is that he's moving forward, crossing over, and (coincidently) with his head UP. That's a good look for a rookie.

Bettman needs to go. The purpose of checking in hockey is to separate man from puck. When a player does not have possession of the puck, they should not be checked, or it is an interference penalty. Both Ovi and Trouba were headhunting, period!

??. There is a thing called momentum....In the split second that the puck left his stick, it is physically impossible for Trouba to stop. His arms and shoulders were down.. People get hurt in hockey. Part of the game. Clean/ hard check. 🤷

First off, the puck never hit his stick. So you are watching a different play.

Take of the Blackhawk sunglasses bro! Clean hard check he was knocked out when his head hit the ice unfortunate but true! If the situation was reversed you would be saying the same thing! Thankfully he’s ok but clean hard hits are part of the game get over it!

Nope. He was out cold before hitting the ice. Why? Because the initial contact was forearm to jaw.

Take off the Ranger goggles, Bro.

Rangers look good, btw.

Just wait till perhaps next season for regular audition of Barret, Altybarmaken, Entwhistle and Slavin. And possibly Slaggert and R Johnson too: let's start off with an exhibition game and they're all in. A chippy affair. Who is the bully now?

Phillips and Rogula pin their man to the boards. They're in too.

Late edit: Hardman could be inserted too in place of someone.

WTF are you talking about!!? The puck was in his feet and bounced off his stick almost the same time he was hit. YOU watch the video..ya putzz.
His head was down b/c he was trying to get the puck...no? Bang, bang play. It was unfortunate outcome, no doubt, but not dirty or predatory. Dmen pinch all the time and get hits like that.

I guess, you want NHL to turn into NFL when even the slightest of hits requires a penalty to be called. Didn't hear many of the Chi. players in post game interviews screaming for a suspension

Because I saw you responded to what I said yesterday, I just wanted to clarify what you said. Only because I never played hockey. I know it was unfortunate that Khaira had his head down in trying to locate the puck, which can happen, but his head was down a little too long. You said "checker's instinct." So, they aim high to deliver a hit like that?

Why the cool guy attitude?
Your initial comment was totally off and now there's not even room for debate?
You stated he got a forearm to the jaw. Just shows you couldn't even watch the replay before reaching a verdict. I don't know many people who have a forearm coming directly out of the shoulder socket. His form was perfectly clean. The point of contact is the iffy part.
My initial reaction in live time was that Trouba would be suspended, penalty or no. But, watching it repeatedly you can see that the refs didn't penalize him because he hit chest and head at the same time (or near enough in live time). I'm still surprised they didn't call it, but the rules leave this interpretation available.

if you can find me your posts offering sympathy to the Rangers when Matt Martin knocked Trouba out for rest of season and Tom Wilson knocked Panarin out for rest of the season last year I will definitely aoplogize

I think it is pretty clear that the puck is by, or hit Khaira. It is also very clear that Trouba's elbow is up and the first point of contact is his head.
