Key news here: “As part of the transaction, Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle will remain part of the ownership group and will be closely aligned with FSG. Lemieux, will continue his role guiding hockey operations for the organization.” 1/2 https://t.co/7Cgy9MgWFt

Lemieux gets to play figurehead for the rube Penguins fans who wouldn’t otherwise be able to swallow the Penguins being owned by the Red Sox. JJ from Kansas

I hardly think Lemieux is merely a figurehead here. But I admit I'm not nearly as close to the workings of this deal as you are apparently.

Dude is from Illinois, Arkansas, and Cali it's not like he's a life long Bostonian? Not really sure I understand how the Red Sox own the Pens considering they're all under the same ownership at the top, and the Pens, Liverpool and Sox are all under him.

Other founder of Fenway was from NYC so, still doesn't make sense.

Much rather be owned by the Red Sox than the Pirates. I don't think I'm alone on that.

Absolutely, didn't Liverpool win the Champions League like a year or 2 ago?

Yes they did, 19/20. Missed the record for highest point total in the English Premiere League by 1.

Just an observation, but when you look at half of CGY's dmen it's kind of interesting considering CGY, at the moment anyway, has one of the better defenses in the league.

Zadorov - Widely considered a pretty crap dman.
Tanev- Everyone, including myself, were very worried the Pens would pay him what he's getting in CGY
Guds - Who I personally liked, but still, widely regarded as a pretty piss poor dman.

Yet, CGY has one of the better defensive squads in the league. It's still early obviously, so we'll see how sustainable it is, but Tanev specifically has been a different player since going to CGY.

I really don't know what point I'm making, but I just found it interesting.

Rino. When you say “widely regarded as a piss poor d man”. You’re referring to a very small community of hockey fans. No one in the NHL is happy to plays against Zadorov or Gudbranson.

Sutter always gets the most out of average to below average D because of the sound system hockey his teams play. And the top 3 D on that team which aren’t mentioned in your post do most of the play driving.

You mean the only 2 D men on Calgary that give up more chances in front of the net than the offense generates when they’re on the ice?

I didn't bring them up because they're self-explanatory. I would have just expected the other guys to drag them down and they're not.

Excited Geno is just around the corner but realistically expect him to not look good for about a month, give or take a week, after he does return haha.

He's done a great job with them (team). So far, defensively speaking, Johnny Hockey's stats are insane compared to his other seasons. He even basically said in an intermission interview last night that he and everyone else were buying into what Sutter was selling.

Pens were outclassed and outworked last night. I now put the "didn't deserve to win" tally to 4 or 5 games so far this season.

Sid is starting to look better with each game and who knows how long Geno will take, but my hope is that as long as the Pens can keep in the race we should see both of them really waking up by February.

Yeah im just going on previous experience with Geno coming back from long layoffs and the most recent being last season when he missed all or pre season and training camp as well. The first 3 weeks people here wanted him traded then he f'n exploded and went machino haha.

As I've said many time here before, the beauty of sports to me is you just really dont know for sure what will happen with anyone or any team. So who knows, maybe he's quicker getting to a god production this time.

If CBJ wasn't all of a sudden playing well I'd be less concerned, but they don't look to be regressing, so keeping that 4th spot will be a battle.

CBJ a big surprise, no doubt. The Metro so far looks to be the closest in standings...and look who's currently dead last in it? I cant see them staying there all season...battle indeed.

Yeah, I guess NYI has a lot of health issues, so one has to think they find their way back. It will be a tough battle in the metro as usual.
