Sorry to hear about Duncan Keith being out with injury.
Seabrook must have blocked a lot of shots, he hasn't played in almost three years and someone finally passed him.
With Gaudette gone to Ottawa, who comes up for the roster spot?

I'm guessing Tyler Johnson might be ready to play.

Can't look at the standings and get discouraged. There are way too many teams above them. Just keep winning. They are really trying to hit a point total. Something like 95 points. They were 6-4 in their last 10, so that was much better than the 1-7-2 first 10 games. They need to average something like 6-3-1 every 10 games the rest of the way to get there. A lot of variables along the way though.

While they need to approach games on a shift to shift basis, an 8-1-1 run would fit in nicely for sure.

While I’d love to see that kind of run, as long as they’re playing 4-5 fourth liners every night, that’s not going to happen. I’m not saying that Gaudette was their savior, but why he didn’t get ice time over some of those duds is maddening. Bottom line is that this team can’t score, and that’s due to not enough offensive talent. Nylander is not a savior either, but I’d rather have him on the third line than Carpenter.

I believe it came out yesterday that Johnson isn’t as close to returning as the Hawks believed.

Today’s the day the Hawks claim Murray.

I'm just happy they are only giving up around 2 goals per game instead of 4. That's a good start, be it better goalie play or team defensive play in front of them.

For me it's baby steps, now that they are actually playing a more structured system in their own end, over the course of the season the passing will get better out of our zone, we are so bad at this, and once that gets better the offensive scoring chances will. I think Toews, Kubs, and Dach will start scoring. How many goals do we need if we can keep the opponent at 2 goals per game.

Wouldn’t have anything to do with better forward support, would it?

Another day off for Toews? At least It's an Improvement on last season, It must be exhausting for JT to score zero goals In the first 20 games of the season.

Something not right regarding Gaudette. We never got the full story. Perhaps it was supposed to be that way? They give other studs like Strome a look-see three times over, and come to the same exact conclusions. Why not give Gaudette a decent shot? Don't understand.

Same reason they never gave his ex college line mate the legend that was Dylan Sikura. At the end of the day, just not good enough.

It’s unfortunate but he may be done. Some guys can put more mileage on their bodies, maybe Toews isn’t one of those guys. I just home he retires when his contract is over and not hang on for old times sake.

Supposedly last season Gaudette was patient zero leading up to the spread of covid among the Canucks causing them to reschedule a number of games. Read where he wasn't well liked in the room because of that. Maybe there was some problem in the locker room here too. Who knows.

Anyone know if Scott Mellanby the former asst GM in Montreal would make a decent GM here? Looks like Bergevin on thin ice there too after the hiring of Jeff Gorton as head of Hockey Ops. Can't see Marc coming here though because I don't think Danny wants any ties to anyone who was around in 2010.

I hear what you're saying LA. But, if not being good enough was the main criteria, why was Nylander ever allowed to dress in the Indian head? (Prior to Rockford). Had no business, NONE, of playing with the parent club. A lot of decisions seem based on pure subjectivity in the moment. And, like you, I'm certain there were valid reasons why Gaudette didn't play. But being less talented than some of the slugs we trot out there nightly? Can't buy it. More to this story than meets the eye. IMO.

Unless the coaches saw no upside at all in Gaudette but they did in Strome and Nylander? It is curious a team lacking talent wouldn’t give everyone as long a look as possible?

I hope Toews doesn't hang around to long either, A definite HOF for sure! It drives me nuts to see guys hang around to long, I don't think Toews Is there yet however. It's embarrassing to watch Perry, Parise, Thornton, etc.....Some guys just can't let go.

It looks like the Hawks passed on Murray. It makes sense, with E Kane on waivers they’re going for him instead.

Not comparing talent levels between these 3 guys, as you know. Some have been blessed with long, long, looks. Others, not so much. Honestly don't think any of them will ever become mainstays at their profession. Want to be proven wrong with Nylander. Still has a chance by the rumblings coming out of Rockford. How much green would you be willing to plunk down as things currently stand?
