Pretty crazy to go from winning 2 cups in your rookie season to put on waivers 4 years later...

Murray had a taste of the glory very early to start his career. However that was then, this is now. He’s never recaptured that in Ottawa. Jarry has played very well in last 5 games. It’s easy to say the right goalie was traded now but let’s see where things stand at seasons end. Jarry is certainly squashing the critics at this moment. Keep it up! We need it.

Not to rain on the parade, but the Pens need to upgrade from DeSmith or Jarry is going to get burned out.

He's clearly miserable in CHI and has been from day one. He was miserable from the day he found out about the trade, yet he's somehow found a way to post a .912 SV%. His GSAA is in the toilet, but I think everything for him is mental right now.

I hope so. It’s a shame Lindberg got injured. He was playing very well and probably could have had a shot.

They publicly said this summer they wanted a vet goalie didn't they? I would assume they still plan on it.

I don't think they ever said that publicly, but reporters said they were definitely looking. Hextall is such a different animal than Rutherford. He never tips his hand on anything. It's not as much fun as Rutherford, but it's the proper way to do business.

Oh yah, he is the opposite of Jim. For some reason I thought he had made a comment in an interview about getting a veteran goalie.

Hopefully the Peguins learned last year the pitfalls of not having 3 solid goalies on your roster come playoff time.

Right now, Jarry is a stud. This isnt a fluke in my opinion, he's playing really solid hockey. Seeing the puck well, positioning is a lot better... no idea if the last goalie coach sucked, or what. but a nice improvement.

DeSmith isnt playing well right now and hasnt so far this season. No idea if he turns it around, but the Pens should be focused on a solid backup right now. Cant overwork Jarry and cant play a playoff game with just DeSmith as your backup.

Side note... I love watching Jeff Carter. Really a shame we didnt trade for him back in 2018 after we lost Bonino. He is the perfect 3rd line center when everyone is healthy and can easily play top 6 minutes when he needs to.

I just mentioned this on the Sens board (because they're talking about the Murray mistake), but they canned Mike Bales who helped them win two cups in a row for Murray's hand picked guy from WB (mike buckly). Jarry's play mysteriously declined under him too. Maybe he did suck. I though Rutherford was out of his mind when they dumped Bales. Why would you do that?

I thought the vast majority wanted him gone in the off-season and he was the sole reason for the struggles the last couple playoffs??

He absolutely was the reason they lost in the playoffs last year, that doesn't have anything to do with his great play this season.

I remembered the opposite and they supported the goalies. At least publicly.

I remember them saying that later in the summer, but I swore they said they were looking at goalies in free agency, but after the market dried up they fired Buckley and backed their two guys. But as someone said earlier it could have just been the beat writers saying they were looking at goalies and not hextall saying anything.

They did get their vet goalie...Louis Domingue. Not sure whether he'd be an upgrade over DeSmith, but a rough game tonight and the Pens should definitely bring him up and see what they have now.

Desmith has always been pretty solid as a backup until this year. Maybe his core surgery really had an adverse affect on him.

Can’t really complain like I used to about hextall. There were clear and easy paths to keep either McCann or Tanev but I’m hoping the sale of the team had something to do with it. If he can get Zucker out of here he would be a miracle worker.
