Carol Schram: Could a veteran coach help the struggling Vancouver Canucks change course? The Calgary Flames are overachieving under veteran coach Darryl Sutter. Could a similar move help the struggling Vancouver Canucks?

I'm still hearing Babcock stuff but Boudreau would be a better fit IMO.

I wouldn’t say the flames are over achieving at all. They were greatly under achieving the past couple years. They’re playing well and I think right about how they should have been all along.

That said I think a new coach with a better system and better pp would do wonders for the Canucks.

Thanks Carol,

I agree Bruce Boudreau would be a good choice for the Canucks.

They would need to make a change pretty quick if they had any hope of salvaging the season.

Not sure that's Aquilini's style.

Boudreau would do them a world of good, Babcock is just poison.

Its a new coach immediatley to try and salvage this season
or
Fire the regime and build back up with a PRESIDENT OF HOCKEY OPS first. Then that person hires a GM and together they hire the COACH of their choosing. You know... a chain of command. FA needs to do this 1 thing right, then go count blueberries.

Hits are like blocked shots, teams that don't have the puck tend to lead those categories.

Bruce Boudreau or Dan Blysma, but I would prefer Boudreau

No mention of Boeser being aggressively shopped? There was rumour of it being Miller, but it’s actually Boeser that they’re looking at moving.

I think they dicked themselves by not acting in the summer. At this point if Benning is a lame duck there's no chance a long term Coach gets hired until he's gone.

The way I see it is if they're keeping Benning until the end of the season Interm is the only solution for a Coaching change until firm decisions are made higher up.

Hope all is well Bro.

Hits are also a very inconsistent stat from rink to rink.

Who could have seen it coming...the sad part is keeping Tanev, Stecher & Toffoli might have just kept his job. The foresight of this management group is so bad.

Great write up of my Mighty Flames! Canucks would be wise to take a page out of Trelivings book and try to copy what he has done. Hits aren’t everything especially if it’s done by a team of smurfs. Goal differential is what builds winning teams.
