Theo Fox: Ghost Protocol A look at the Blackhawks roster situation heading into today's contest vs the Red Wings as Patrick Kane, Ryan Carpenter, and Erik Gustafsson are in COVID protocol.

Plus, summaries of the IceHogs weekend series vs the Wild dropping both games despite strong performances by Lukas Reichel, Alex Nylander, and Ian Mitchell.

Yzerman is going to show us what drafting and developing 1st round picks actually looks like today. Seider and Raymond look legit, if they were here Stan would already have Jarmo on the line asking if Jeremy Morin could be included in the deal.

Indeed the greatest GM ever and the old Stan can't draft trope. So Dach isn't legit, Dinky doesn't count cause he fell to the Hawks and Reichel's all hype I suppose.

If Gus cannot go tonight, I hope whoever gets called up can make it to Chicago, what with the weather today.

It's obviously not good if Patrick Kane isn't cleared to play by this evening yet sitting out a spell could be a blessing in disguise given he's nursing an undisclosed injury sustained almost a year ago. Wouldn't it be good to reach full recovery and be 100% for the team?

I respond:

He had the summer to reach full recovery - if the injury is still an issue affecting his play (and something is affecting his play), a couple of days off seems not likely to help.

I watched the Hogs first game and parts of the second. Unfortunately, to my eyes Mitchell just does not excite me. Until he gains some strength I just cannot see him as an effective NHL'er. I think that as Isaac Phillips develops, he will pass our other slightly built D prospects on the depth chart.

So if Montreal could rout Detroit can the Hawks at least eke out a win? Then again, maybe the Wings will come out flying (pun intended) to atone for last night's embarrassment. I'll take the Hawks even if Kane is not in the lineup.

Forget about winning, I'm hoping for the team to get it's first lead of the season.

This analysis makes sense to me. If he has an injury dating back to last year that is not improving, a couple days doesn't seem like it would help.

How's the new knee for Mrs. Sage so far?

Fantastic a game they might actually have a chance of winning. At this point there's only 1 way change happens on this team, so either way i win going forward, and I'm thinking by the 15 game mark its going to get really ugly and moves are going to be made and hopefully it starts with Bowman.

And isn't that the kiss of death when a mouth piece reporter for the team says the coaches job is safe for now.

It seems that some here dislike Stan. I know, this is shocking to read. Some so want their narrative to be true that they cannot acknowledge ANY of the excellent moves Stan has made over the years. It seems like acknowledging any accomplishments destroys their position that Stan needs to go. News flash for those people....every GM has good and bad decisions, even the ones that get fired. Not being able to acknowledge the good moves does not enhance the narrative, it just decreases the credibility of the writer.

That'll make the first game with Montreal a 12-2 drubbing. Oof...

The November 12th game against Arizona should be interesting. I’m expecting this to be a battle of winless teams with Arizona winning 1-0 in a 12 round shootout after Fleury accidentally scores on himself.

She’s doing fine - a little pain, but mostly independently mobile with a walker. Much more independent than I expected her to be.

It’s a weeks-long recovery to “normal” (actually, much better than normal with the almost-real plastic knee).

Thank you for asking….
