Despite whatever potential distraction it might cause, I wouldn't mind him back on the ice. He's the only guy who consistently showed up last year.

If his teammates don't want him on the team, and if they're playing fairly well or at least staying competitive, there's no way you can bring him into that dressing room.

He's a cancer in the locker room & he's the reason why Hertl wants to be traded.

Take the money out of Doug Wilson's contract until it's paid off

Then how were the Kings able to void Mike Richards' contract? I believe at the time they said that it was for conduct that didn't align with the values of the team. Like a morality clause. I presume if the Kings do that, other teams do as well.

I get that everyone loves the dirty laundry, but it's kind of a drag that there's nothing about how they're F-Uing the pundits who wrote them off before the season & they're currently 3-0...

The Richards situation was considered a material breach of contract. Dude was rolling around with non-prescribed Oxy(and arrested) and clearly had a serious drug problem prior to it, if you want to see how quickly his numbers declined after 2010 take a look. It’s not quite on the same level as false accusations and being caught to have used a fake vaccination card. Not really defending Kane, but contracts are designed to protect player and team. And unless dude is convicted of something super illegal it’ll be hard for them to terminate the contract. Point being the whole Covid vaccination debate making his offense a grey area doesn’t really help SJ case.

You hit the nail on the head. The best thing for SJ to do would seem to be just wait for him to make a mistake.

I really appreciate the response. I get what you're saying about severity. The thing is that it seems that there is a substance abuse policy in place and there should have been multiple steps that Richards went through, negotiated into the CBA, before being terminated. In fact, termination is not at all suggested in the policy, even after conviction. I am aware that there is no evidence of spousal abuse in Kane's case, so let's drop that. Let's also exclude him gambling on NHL games, as that has not been refuted or substantiated. Let's not include the fact that he's over $20 mil in debt and highly susceptible to influence on a pro sporting events outcome.

Talk about Kane only, specifically, willfully/intentially circumventing rules put in place for health and safety of himself and other players....there's far less protection in place for him than there was for Richards and Richards got canned. Yes he deserved it, that's not my point here.

I agree that everyone just needs to sit back and watch til he inevitably commits the ultimate fireable offense....it's bound to occur.

Everyone bashing Kane and of all the allegations the only one sticking is the Covid card. Despite everything Kane was the best player on his Shark team last year. When a guy is down so many are ready to stomp the guy. I am not defending his actions but to the guy stating he is a cancer in the room you should be aware that some cancers can be cured. The fact that he is owed seven million for years to come tells me the Sharks should play him if they can't trade him. Hertl is probably moving on anyway. There is alway a chance Evander could grow up, I mean a slim one, lol
