I wouldn't say that Hynes' system can be effective when it hasn't gotten an NHL team past the 1st round or even to back-to-back winning seasons.

AHL results were fairly decent. Next he had four full NHL seasons with a crappy, half-assed Devils team, his first NHL coaching experience I believe.

This will be his first full season with the Preds, so as long as the season doesn't develop into a disaster, I'm fine with giving him a chance to make it work.
