Cap hit aside, MM on the 3rd pair could be a very good thing.
- MattStrat

I hope that's what they are thinking and are not just easing MM back.

How's Simon's season so far? I see a smart player on the ice (as he's always been) making plays and fighting for the puck. He's a damn good 3rd/4th liner.
- Barnaby36

I always like Simon in a bottom 6 role. When he's forced on the top line and starts flubbing chances he frustrates me, but he's a very nice player to have for depth and seems like he's being used right so far.

Absolutely, we need a playmaker for the bottom 6, he's perfect for that.

Kuch might be out and require surgery. Don't think they can make it without him this time, team is not deep enough. Although they could make moves to become deep again by acquiring guys that are UFAs at end of year...

Easily they will, but waiving BB doesn't look too good now.

Regarding Pens: Puck to the net boyz.

Yah, he will never score at a solid NHL rate, but his 200ft game and passing ability are perfect for a bottom 6 spot with the ability to jump up for short stints in the top 6.

Rodrigues is showing similar ability this season. I love that Sully had him on PP1 today. He is very aggressive and gets the puck to the net. Pretty smart player as well.

I really did think it was 50/50 for sid against the stars but i totally get holding him out. i did not think the hit on rust was one that would force a week to week, lower body injury. it was a solid hit but i was surprised when it went from him not coming back to week to week. I didnt expect to see geno until january so any progress is great. matheson......not concerned about at all. i dont want to see him elevated into top 4 any way.

Simons not terrible in a 4th line role. But (frank) was it funny watching him deke himself out at the blue line then get laid out the other night. Who am I kidding. Simons sucks.

Almost as funny as watching Tanev deke himself out of a shot attempt on a breakaway…

I was one who was like mehh with Simon, but honestly idk if it was the change of scenery for the year away but he just looks better to me than what he was before. He seems stronger I would say.

He struggled to crack Calgary's lineup following shoulder surgery, which was a reason we just moved on, so it wouldn't shock me if he committed himself hard to training this summer.

Simon would look good with Gaudreau (another smart guy who plays the right way). They look similar in some ways.

While I've been happy with Boyle thus far, I do wish the Pens had held on to Gaudreau.

For sure. Boyle has been a pleasant surprise so far.

The team as a whole is playing tremendously.
