I don't see Veleno in the top 6 this season. I think it's between Raymond and Ryan at this point. Yzerman's decision will be very interesting and somewhat telling.

That’s an interesting take. With Larkin and Bert both fresh off of surgeries and recoveries, there could be 2-3 spots open at any given time. Very interesting. Tonight will be that way with Larkin likely out

I know there’s some fantasy players feeling the pinch right now. A few of you on here have Vrana. How do those leagues deal with injury? Are you allowed to add another player temporarily?

Injuries will surely happen, I was referring to the top six forwards to begin the season. It seemed to be well established before Vrana's injury. Now there is one vacant spot. I believe the two valid options to be Raymond or Ryan. If it's Raymond, I think that would be a real testament as to Yzerman's belief in him as a potential franchise cornerstone.

I think you’re onto something for sure. Yzerman’s enthusiasm for Raymond has surprised some of the writers/pundits. The kid has some flash. I posted his interview from earlier today. Really looking forward to watching him.

Well, THAT stinks. Was kinda wondering what was going on with all of the silence, then Ryan gets PTOd.

I agree that it looks like Ryan or Raymond. At 1st glance, I'd say it'll be Ryan, but Raymond could get the nod. Either way, business in HockeyTown is about to pick up. I'd be hesitant to seek a trade to try to back-fill Vrana's stats. If we were contending, YES. But, LTIR him, let the kids get some more ice-time, rotate them around, see what happens. By all means, give a good eye to whether or not this helps or hurts a kid. If, in the end, there's more damage to be done (lack of playing time, psychological impacts of low minutes & production, etc...) send them to GR.

Look, I'm not worried about this at all. It truly gives us a chance to get the roster more rounded by seeing who steps up, who plays well, etc... Gives a better look at who stays or goes come TDL, or in the off-season, or via trade.

Tyutayev just got the call that the big club is open, and it's his chance to make his way. The kid is sneaky-good, needs some work for sure, but I'm not going to be the least bit surprised to see him gets ome good ice-time in HockeyTown this season.

I watched Tyutayev from the second row at the prospects tournament and agree he's legit NHL talent. I could see him getting a shot after the trade deadline.
Hopefully another 7th round Yzerman gem!

Seattle has a definite roster crunch! We could get a winger from them for a pick, probably just a 3rd! Look them over and see if you see a possibility.

The Krack could also deal a D-man to Vancouver due the Hamanic personal decision.
Actually it looks as if they NEED to at least trade these 2 (a D and a F) due to their roster crunch!

Looking at CapFreindly, Seattle has 5 forwards that make less tha $1M that I would make a low ball offer for 1 of them. And of their other forwards making less than $3M, I would offer a 2nd (Caps) for McCann or Jarnkrok. They risk losing 2 guys when the season starts if all are healthy and 2-3 guys have to be sent down. I think we will have a better gauge on this as Hamanic's decision has to be tomorrow, and whether the Canuks Richarder for a D-man.

No point in trading for anyone. Lost season no matter what, see what the kids have.

The Vrana loss is a shame but at this point I agree with let’s see what the Team has. Doesn’t mean Stevie won’t pull a rabbit out of his hat.

To me, this makes the most sense. But like I said above, we have to be careful with them. There's more damage to be done by leaving a 19-y/o kid in the NHL getting his butt handed to him in a box nightly than we may imagine. there's got to be a balance. But, on its face, HECK YES. Give them the reins & let them drive the carriage.

First take on losing Vrana it sucks. But after some thought, it really just helps with the Shane Wright sweepstakes. Just finding the positive in this dark news.

If there is another Fabbri type trade out there, I am all for something like that.

As far as possible pickups, the waiver wire is going to be lit up before the regular season. A lot of teams will be holding their breath hoping they don’t lose some of their depth. For now, definitely not worried about it. Vrana is a loss, for sure. We’ll see how everyone deals with it as things roll on

I get a feeling that that may very well take place with Kenny! He really needs some goaltending help, and the Wings may be involved with eating some salary for a prospect or a pick.
