Should we take bets on who gets injured in the pre-season?

IMO it's either Zucker or ZAR. My money is on ZAR.

Watching Nathan Legare burst up the right side now, the weight he’s lost — 15 pounds — is obvious. But it’d be that even without the movement. He just looks really different. That’s good. Kid can gun it.

Nathan Legare definitely looks faster. He said he lost almost 15 pounds to help improve his speed and make his first few steps quicker, which is something the Penguins wanted him to work on. “I worked all summer with the same nutritionist in Quebec. I feel very good on the ice.”

Thanks for sharing. I was gonna watch him the closest. He's the only one with a good shot. We need a shooter.

Yeah, I feel the same. He's a double-edged sword though. The two issues from everything I read was his speed and the fact he's pretty one-dimensional which we all know is not something Sully loves in a player. If he's gotten fast enough to keep up with play and not always out of position then he's got a shot.

Yea I think him and Hallander are the top 2 to watch. Hallander saying he wants to drive the net and Legare looking faster with a good shot. I mean we have open spots for sure. They gotta take them if they want them.

Depending on how things shake out and barring any other injuries prior to opening night, I could see this as the likely lineup...

Jake-Carter-Rust
Zucker-Blue-Kap
Heinen-ERod-McGinn (I believe they both play either side)
ZAR/Hallander-Boyle-Legare/ZAR

I like the idea of Hallander and Legare with ZAR. We know how good ZAR is defensively and how simple his game is. That could help the two rookies adjust quicker compared to playing with someone who expects more of their linemates.

From my untrained eyes...

I've been saying it for a couple of years, Legare looks like an NHL power forward we so desperately need. I saw him in the preseason a couple of years ago and grown men couldn't knock him off the puck. Guys were bouncing off him. His skating was the flaw (kind of a funky stride), but Hornie couldn't skate for sh!t either and this kid has a much better shot. Will be interesting to see if less weight impacts his physicality. I think we'll see him sooner than later.

This is where I thought he separated himself from Poulin. Both kids were already big, but Poulin had trouble getting separated from checks. Poulin skated a little better and handled the puck a little better, but he could shake checks. Guys could hold him up with ease.

The Pens have him listed as 205 on their training camp roster. But if he is down to 190 I still don't see how that would impact his physicality. That bit of speed and better skating will do more for his game that just extra weight will.
Plus, at 190 he would be a very similar build to Kunitz, who was a good physical forward.

Don't sleep on Heinen, man. I have sneaking suspicion he might end up surprising us...if he stays healthy...

Good sleeper pick for the LW with Malkin and Kapanen.

McGinn was my sleeper for that spot. But it'll be a while before we see if any comes true haha.
