I hope no one gets injured.
I hope none of these guys are on the Hawks opening night roster.
It would be nice to see that some of these guys know how to play hockey the “right way”.

Great write-up, thanks Theo.

There are a few prospects I’m interested in during this tournament, one in particular is Teply. I don’t know if the kid will ever make the NHL but if he does there is potential to be a top 6 forward. I think he’ll need another season in Rockford, and another season with the Winnipeg Ice wouldn’t hurt either.

I don’t think any one of these guys will be on the roster for opening night. However, the one who could surprise people and get an early call-up is Josiah Slavin. It will likely just be a cup of coffee, but Salvin could fit it well on the 4th line.

Hardman did not look out of place in his brief trial last year. I can see him being an injury call up/roster shake-up during the year

Way too early to say that. I hope all these guys outplay some of the "vets", that would be a good problem to have.

It seems like yesterday when Hwk prospect Danault was playing high end hockey in the Travese City tourney where a Toronto's prospect,Jake Gardiner, bullied anyone within his space with an attempt ot injure to get himself noticed.

So far, to me, Michal Teplý has looked like a dime store version on L.A.'s of the Kings' / USA hockey's Arthur Kaliyev, who had a 14 goal/31 point AHL rookie season after being a one trick pony who scored big time for Hamilton in the OHL (126 goals).

I will be looking for his on-ice growth because all I have seen when he is playing with better players (and in Hawk camp) is a wing who basically is trying to find an open seam to receive the puck to shoot it.
If/when transition happens, he hustles to stay with the pack on defense, and when the puck changes possession, gains has to hustle to stay with the pack as an attacker.

Believe me when I say I have tried to appreciate and understand that big guys can play in the bigs with more finesse than growl, and have grown to appreciate that the Stromes can make a spot for themselves.

But, so far Tepllý for me can't stir optimism until I see moreall-around game.
Just saying, I hope it is coming.

The same Jake Gardiner who is afraid of his own shadow in the NHL? The same Gardiner who shied away from contact during his whole career? I can’t imagine him bullying anyone.

I had tickets to a prospect tournament in Oshawa in I think 2011. Toronto played the Hawk’s prospects. Gardiner, as much as I couldn’t stand how he played in the NHL looked like a man against boys with his skating ability and was probably the best player in the tournament but he didn’t touch anyone. In that tournament the Hawks had this little guy who ran around the ice hitting everyone and driving Nazem Kadri crazy. He also decided to fight a Leaf prospect who was about 6’5” and acquitted himself quite well. The guy? Future fan favorite Andrew Shaw!

I feel like we watched the prospect games all last year. Are they going to televise any of this?

If any of these guys are outplaying the vets the Hawks have, this will be an absolute miserable season, and there will not be enough ledges to stand on. It's not like the Hawks are bursting at the seams with high level talent. Sure, it would be nice to get a surprise or two, but by and large, most/all of these players need to continue to grow their games in order to be even considered a call up.

Rearranging the deck chairs on the 4th line is not going to move this team anywhere.

Well, I was kind of focusing my post toward Strome and Nylander. I would not be shocked if some of the younger guys show more fire, ability, and want then these 2.

Did they have prospect games last year during the height of The Plague?

I figured as much (not being condescending here). Say what you will about their perceived issues, Nylander and Strome both have much more talent (not to mention NHL ready talent) than any of these guys outside of possibly Reichel - who we still need to see against NHL competition. I'm completely on board that they need to show much better overall to be useful, but they still have loads more talent than these prospects right now.

From the spokesperon from Child USA:

How could Bowman, who has been publicly accused of covering up the abuse of a serial predator, be allowed to lead USA Hockey and represent our country at the international level?”

I guess the presumption of innocent before being proved guilty is no longer a basic tenant in US law. I didn't know the Supreme Court overturned Taylor vs. Kentucky. When did that happen?

If this groups true job is to protect children then they would put an age requirement that all Olympic athletes have to be at least 18.

It's a prospect tournament. What are your expectations? If you already see guys like Allen, del Mastro, Crevier, and Phillips as lesser players then you likely wouldn't be excited. Most (all) of the higher end prospects aren't going to be playing in this (Mitchell, Beaudin, Kalynuk.

I tend to prefer the wait and see game with prospects instead of expecting to see something then being disappointed.
