Never seen the team file like that, maybe I just don’t pay attention much
- ClaudeFather

Sounds like the Flyers think they have a good case for not having to offer what Sanheim thinks he deserves.

You are not correct. A NTC is not the same as a NMC

Thought it was NMC. Never Mind!

Indeed. I didn’t realized he already made 3.25. Do we know who they would use as comparables?

Lets play the what if game.

If ex selke tells the Flyers he is testing free agency no matter what. Come the trade deadline the Flyers are in the 8th playoff spot. Several teams a few points apart between 7-11.

What do the Flyers do?

- hello it's me 2050

They’d stupidly keep him and use excuse that going for it one last time with coots/g and fans would flock to get that last glimpse of them all the while spending that $ on tix and merch.

It’s the flyers way

What am I reading here? Giroux is a top line player. Also his nickname comes from his teammates.
- SuperSchennBros

A poster earlier joke to stop calling farabee bee. It was a joke back to stop calling giroux g.

Both players given g and bee nicknames by teammates

Flyers and Sanheim file for arbitration
- arichardson22

Dangerous game they're playing here... top-4 D tend to get PAID in arbitration.

Ceci, Trouba, Schmidt all doubled their AAVs.

Players eligible for arbitration routinely file as a means of protection. It’s doesn’t mean a “ dangerous game” is in the works.
. Ceci went from a 2.8M AAV to an arbitration award of 4.3M. How is that double? Trouba went from a variable AAV of 3M to an Arbitration award of 5.5M. Also not double.

I still think a Konecny for Gaudreau trade could be in the works. I prefer Atkinson on the first line and TK on line two. Martin Jones is the perfect back up for Carter, if Carter fails I am confident Jones will be ready. Jones is the perfect Dubnyk, Talbot castoffs that turned it around in their careers. I think the forward are pretty much the same as last year but the D should be much stronger and that makes for better forwards. Hopefull a bounce back season for us.

You think so, I bet Sanheim gets way more than cousin Cliffie wanted to pay him. CF has done nothing much to win me over since he got here. He is a patient dude.

Those two seem like such similar players offensively tho? Much of what I like about the Voracek trade outside of the intangibles is offensively they are two polar opposites.

Now, if you were going to say (not that this would work or be feasible) Hayes for Gaudreau or Tk involved in a Tkchuk trade that might make more sense to me.

I like Johnny Hockey and I think it would be good for the Flyers and the fans to have that type of exciting game breaker, but I still think TK has the chance to get back to ALMOST that level, while adding his total POS on the ice intangible that I think really evens him out with JG in my eyes.

Well, Larsson just signed for $4M, Ryan Suter signed for $3.65M and Savard signed for $3.5M. To me all these players are better defenseman right now, so I would start with these contracts as comparables. As I posted previously, Sanheim does not deserve a raise and if it goes to arbitration he will not get one. I'd sign him for 2 more years at $3.5M and make him prove to me he is worth more in his next deal. Bottom line is Sanheim's skating is above average and his ceiling is still high, however his offense is spotty, his defensive coverage and 1 on 1 puck battle ability is below average and he is not physical or strong enough. If he wants big money, he needs to significantly improve in these areas before I pay him.

I think I would rather get Elias Lindholm from the Flames before I consider Gaudreau, but I doubt the Flames would ever consider trading him, especially given what Lindholm gives you for his price.

I still think TK has a few more gears we haven't seen yet, and if he gets there I like this game a lot more than Gaudreau's.

Thankfully his best season was 3 years ago, his past two were not much to talk about. I don’t think he eclipses the $4M mark. Those guys you all mentioned are a little old to be good compareables, was more thinking a young guy. Sanheim isn’t in the same stratosphere as Suter, he also probably took a little less to go to a team he thought had a shot.

Flyers should show the arbiters the Gerbe video. Sanheim will be lucky to get minimum wage.

My feeling is that the Sanheim camp was asking for something in the 4.75-5.75 range, and the Flyers are countering with something in the 3.75-4 range.

Too far apart, the Flyers think they have a good case, so they elected to go to arbitration.

They will probably reach a deal before then, if not I believe at the end of the arbitrated deal, Sanheim is a UFA.

Yea they clearly thought they had better chances in arbitration. Also could be a good tactic to tell his camp get realistic

They also have Zemula and York pushing for jobs....not that they are ready IMO to take Sanheim's job now...but they do have that arrow in the quill for the near future. As in, by the time Sanheim's arbitrated 1 or 2 year deal expires.

This doesn’t happen often that a team asks for arbitration. Mostly the player ask for it. But in this case it just seems that the team and player are a little further apart than the team would want to be. Arbitration just commits to the fact that a deal will be worked out. I’m not reading into it anymore then this. They’re just making sure something will be worked out.

I don’t think anyone is reading into it more than that, it’s as simple as they are pretty far apart in negotiations right now

Interesting take. In one year, the Flyers are going to have to make some tough decisions with G, Coots and Bee all needing deals. With Ristolainen deal expiring who will be easier to replace internally? We have a couple of young talented LHD in the pipeline.

Would love for Sanheim to turn into the next Matt Carle, I think they have similar games. Move the puck, play a smart game, get your 30-40 points and be a solid top two pair guy.
