Kane got 10m & won cups. 9.5m without the resume sounds like Leaf signing mentality.

Agreed. Hopefully he signs a bridge deal around 7

Yeah in the NFL the whole contract isn't guaranteed unless it's in the language. Something different for draft picks though. My main point is that there are details in every deal that makes them unique. Two players in the NFL can sign identical term and salary and one can get paid much more than the other. A similar situation exists in the NHL although not as extreme as you pointed out with buyouts, bonus money, etc.

NFL system changed years ago. Thank goodness. It was worse than the NBA's who just hand out money and then pay 20M to have him play for another team a year later.

In depth into contracts is something I've just never dived into. Doesn't peak my interest to know much about them.

Such a bush league club.

Francis and the kraken are an absolute embarrassment. Their 1st rounder should be forfeited

I though this was going to be Hawks related, I’ve already put the other Kane out of my mind, it’s so meaningless.

No idea. I guess it would depend if he gets injured, plays good/bad or gets traded. Not a fan of paying kids on potential.
If they continue paying players on potential, then Rathbone will get a 9 million and Klimavich will be getting an 8 etc. Etc.

If Rathbone and Klimovich put up 153 points in their first 165 games and 18 points in their first 17 post-season games, that would be sweet

Not a criticism of you. I totally forgot that there was an E Kane controversy and am waiting for something to happen with the Hawks. Maybe nothing will, guess we will see.

You can pay for potential and get Nate in Colorado, or pay for past performance and get Jay Beagle at 4 x $3 and Alex Burrows at 4 x $5.

But you might also get Rick DiPietro at 15 x $4.5…

It’s a risk either way.

I would say that's a bit dramatic because obviously that doesn't happen, there wouldn't be 31- 9M contracts there would be 400.

Colorado gave Devon Toews 4.1M for a 26 year old with 116 NHL games experience. I would say they were surely paying for his potential.

Agreed. They got shutdown by the league on the Carey Price deal, now this. Francis is such a tool.

Should never have complained about Beagle's contract, according to Nighty cups gets you paid.

It was fair and reasonable for such a player.

How about JD, some times the language filter gets in the way.
