The Habs come out as neutral in a best case scenario.

Winners: Canucks

Dumped 12 Million in dead contracts, Picked up Conor Garland and swapped out Nate Schmidt for OEL. Dlckenson for 3C and they have plenty of cap for Petterson/Hughes

Got Halak and Sutter on the cheap and Schenn as a 6/7 Dman

But he should be doing that with Buffalo or Arizona or another team that isn’t close to contention

Flyers aren't that close to contending either. They could easily miss the playoffs. Ristolainen and Jones might end up being complete disasters lime they were for the last couple years.

Jones isn’t being brought in to be starter. Ristolainen is a prime candidate for a bounce back season (new team, contract year) and won’t be counted on for a top pairing minutes. Ellis and Provorov can legitimately make a claim for top pairing in the division. Like pretty much everyone in the metro, you can make case for everyone either making or missing the playoffs.

Jones has been AHL level for three years now. So if Hart and Jones combine to play like they did last year, you guys will be sellers by Thanksgiving. Ristolainen hasn't been more than a depth player for years. Ristolainen on the 2nd pairing will kill the team. Ellis was a good addition, but the Flyers overall have had a questionable offseason. Should have committed to full rebuilding. Expect more mediocrity for the extended future.

Actually, their off-season has been pretty positive by all accounts. Addressed the defense, freed cap space, brought in more of a scorer in Atkinson and shook up a locker room that badly needed it by sending away Voracek and Ghost. Your point about Jones will be moot if Hart returns to form after an unusual season, which should be expected given his track record going back to juniors.
