Reminiscent of the peca situation couple decades ago.

In 2 years, KA will either be a local hero running the Sabres or out of the league entirely. Actually he might still be running the Sabres poorly. Either way, he has set a line in the sand and he has no obligation to bend over to these sports lawyers and their public grumblings.

Going to be fun to watch.

Someone asked a while ago if Eichel gets booed when he returns here. I say, every time he touches the puck. He and his handlers are absolutely gumming up the works.

The Sabres actually did well in the Peca trade at first it didn't seem like it but Timmy C was a stud for the Sabres.

I like how you mentioned medical arbitration.

I think the reason this hasn't gone there is because Eichel and his agent know they would lose.

They are using it as a bargaining tool, it reeks of desperation.

He is locked in...unless he retires. This is going to get ugly. If the Sabres hold out... PR nightmare. If Jack holds out, he isn't playing. What a mess.

In general, I don't think players care about that, nor does it ever effect their play. And Jack seems like the kind of person that definitely wouldn't give any f*cks if we booed him. He'd actually probably enjoy it and feed off of it. Yeah...I can see the Sabres becoming his favorite team to play against for sure.

not only that, they are using it as a reason to ask for a trade w/o having the stones to ask for a trade

They are trying to not look like the bad guys, but anyone with any sort of brain can see it makes them look foolish and Jack childish, which also could lower the return.

They thought Adams was going to just lay down and be a pushover...he called their bluff.

He might not be making friends with Jack's agent, but this is a huge education to the rest of the GMs in the league that Adams is not going to be taken to school like that infant Jeff Carson...

He doesn't have the pick...I do

At this point screw jack screw his agent and screw the Rangers fans wanting him for bottom 6 prospects, He has 5 years on his contract Buffalo holds all the leverage with him, KA has done a great job not panic selling I was not very excited for him being the GM but he has shown already he has balls of steel if KA keeps this up Buffalo will get a very fair trade for Eichel.

I've just realized that this whole situation is going to go on for a very long time, so don't get your hopes up for a trade anytime soon (why did we actually think he might be traded during the draft ??? What the heck is wrong with us ???). What GM with a normal brain is going to trade for a guy with a neck injury when nobody knows the status of said injury ? Until the injury situation gets cleared up, and that could take MONTHS, he's going nowhere. Adams should put out a statement saying as much.

Sit back and enjoy the drama because this posturing bullcrap is going to last until the injury issue has been resolved.

OR, could there be a conditional trade NOW ? Make the trade, get the huge package, but if Jack doesn't play due to the neck injury, there's some sort of compensation for the team that trades for him ? Is that a thing ?

The longevity of artificial discs is yet known. If it only lasts 10 years, the patient will definitely need further surgery.
Revision disc replacement surgery will be a life-threatening operation.

Holy smokes, can’t blame the Sabres here.

Ladies and gentlemen of nhl fandom. While all outlets report this stuff it really has no pressure points at all.

Eichel has five years remaining on his contract, that’s a top end of $50 million dollars. The longer Eichel doesn’t play because of this injury it allows Buffalo a $10 million dollar ltir write off.

So this allows Buffalo or the team that acquires him more equity with virtually no risk and all rewards.

When my wife was a candidate for this surgery (by Dr Cappucino none the less) he was very upfront about the fact that this disc's life cycle wasn't yet known. That eventually it would lead to a fusion.

For her at 28 we thought it made sense to do it since it's not like she is a professional athlete. However after fighting the insurance company for so long to get it done, it wasn't an option at that point so she had to do a fusion.

They are using the surgery as a wedge where jack probably isn’t as hurt as he’s making it out to be and as soon as he’s traded it will be “rehab worked, jack is ready to play”….

Hold strong Adams!

A true leader would always put the team first and never use the media to publicly take a shot at a team mate or an organization.
Jack and Sammy are not leaders and the Sabres will be far better without either one. They are both highly skilled players that could take a lesson or 2 from guys like Messier or Stevey Y.

All that matters is that KA doesn't give him away for free, especially after Jack is CLEARLY attempting to strong-arm his way out of here. Adams may have to come down a tad from his asking price, but he needs to show some stones here and prove that he is in control.

Never thought I'd say this, but (frank) you, John Robert Eichel. Just, (frank) you.

The sulking and body language should have been clue one as to what kind of person Jack is. Mark Messier or Scott Stevens would have eaten him alive.
