I think the grind of a 7 game series definitely requires some toughness, or at least the ability to respond to scumbags like Wilson and Reaves. But it doesn't matter if you are a bubble team to begin with. Like our 2018 team got pushed around a bit by the lightning in the playoffs. But Reaves would've done (frank) all because we were significantly out-skilled. The rangers can beef up all they want but the Caps will still beat them in a series at this point. They've overcorrected and then some to one incident.

I would agree that Rags have over reacted here. This has Sather's stench all over it. Thank goodness they chased the old regime out (who I believe were building something decent) and have reverted to old ways. They will continue their old mistakes under Sather's guidance.
It is comforting to have some one on the team that can rise to the occasion and still play hockey. Its another matter with these goons Wilson and Reaves, who somehow the NHL and the Players association tolerate.

I hate Wilson but he’s a pretty good hockey player.

Regardless of his hockey skills, he is a goon and a danger to other players. Panarin was a prime example last year, but there have been plenty more. And that has led us to today. In a way I am happy the Rags have gone off-course. That opening night game between the Rags-Caps will be must watch TV, not for the hockey, but for the heavyweight match that is sure to come. I thought we got rid of this in today's NHL, but they want TV ratings and ESPN is licking their chops right now.

Yes, but....
That's what's going on in Rangerstown. In Devilville we just lost our only tough(ish) guy in Bastian and now have no fighting forwards. I mean you could argue Miles Wood, but he's sort of moved away from that. I miss David Clarkson. And krysztof Oliwa. And Randy 'Rocket' McKay. Mostly Stephane Richer. Couldn't fight for poop, but that bastard could shoot.... My kid wears 44 because of him. But he's a defenseman that couldn't score in a whore house with a fist full of fifties. So not a great fit. But he can knock a mother(frank)er down for sure. Just saying....

He completely avoided your response of Hamilton not being a physical dman but a skilled dman. Shows he can’t take criticism with his paper thin logic.

I am extremely sad that Hamilton is gone, and in the same division no less.

Werenski is younger. He is good. But $500K a year more than Hamilton, I don't know. Columbus got boxed in here, but they got to keep their own which is nice.

Yea idk. I question if Hamilton is more dominant. I think he is. I honestly haven’t watched enough of either player to have much of an opinion.

Good news is day 3 and no one has signed Tatar or traded for Tarasenko. There’s still 2 options- 2 out of 128 top 6 wingers.

I’d be okay with Boqvist or whoever as the 4th starting center. Have the bottom 2 lines be 4a and 4b while the top 2 are 1a and 1b. Idk about Henrique.. even if he comes cheap. 5.825 for this season and the following 2. Hes at least 55% at the circle.. but doesn’t provide a whole lot. Maybe he’d be a good voice in the room, but that’s a lot of years and a lot of cap.. which may be an issue in year 3? Gotta think Mercer or anyone would be ready after this season or next.

Markets been set between 9-10 million for a top pair Dman. I like the off-season Colombia is having (unfortunately).

I think tarasenko is between us and the Islanders

Maybe why NY hasn't announced a palms signing as they may be trying to get tarasenko

Wait, we traded Butcher and a fifth and retained some salary?! I missed the retained salary (about 1/3). Really should have just kept him for one year at that point.

I can't understand the need to retain salary

It's not like buffalo is in cap trouble......other than being under the floor if Eichel is on LTIR I believe

Yeah. I thought we paid a 5th rounder to ditch that contract. Cant understand retaining salary there.

Sharing is caring, I suppose. We’re well stocked at left D. Maybe we were trying to do Butcher a favor to get him on the ice? It would be great to have him as a 7th D.. you know he’d draw into the lineup eventually, but it is what it is.

To me, the only good take on trading Butcher is that Fitz was giving him a chance at a new contract after this season that would not happen here. Don't know if I believe that, but it is what I hope. The deal from a Devil's perspective makes makes no sense.

We went a whole day without a post on here. Yada.. yada yada. Maybe EK is right- blues keeping price high.. thinking Tarasenko as a backup plan for teams missing eichel.

trying so hard to not look like a bitter immature baby...
but freaking Colorado simply gets their contract rejected by the NHL while the Devils lose a 1st round pick for the same offense. Luongo, Hossa.. nothing. Grubauer.. oh, restructure it and everything's fine. Kovalchuk- goodbye 1st round pick.. and restructure it to make everything fine.

It's Seattle, and not really the same thing. Ron Francis is just a moron and didn't know he was screwing up.
