I like the signing, I think after years of waiting for the correct moment... it is here. The core is starting to go (Nico, Jack, Smith, etc hell even Zacha showed up!). Adding these signings have already bolstered our group. With Dougie, we finally have a legit top pairing guy who also has track record. He immediately takes pressure off of guys likes Sevs, and Smith. Graves was another great move. Fitz is doing a great job and will assume he is looking at 1-2 more moves before season starts for sure.

Zacha is interesting. He was like a new acquisition without giving up on anyone (Many had already given up on Zacha).

The questions is; id there follow through?

I just want Tarasenko and a Bastian replacement and Fitz gets an A+.

Yes,
we need:

Scoring
A little more toughness and grit (especially with such a young team that can be pushed around)
and an Vet to help babysit for the next two years

Yes, Tarasenko could help, but at what cost? Will he be here when the Devils are ready to win?
I think you blow your load on a scorer who will be here 3 years from now.

Time will tell, a monster contract and a new city. There will be an adjustment.
But I agree, this is exactly what the Devils have been looking for since the glory days of the Niedermayers and Rafalskis.

Hamilton does a lot of little things really well that most fans dont notice. Really smart player with great positioning. Very effective defending against the rush with his range. Hope he wins a Norris with you guys.

I think the blues will hang on to him unless they get a really good offer which we shouldn't give. Depends on the price

I thought I read that they wanted to move him and keep Hoffman but Hoffman has since signed in Montreal

I think with ruffs open style he will fit in very well and will show why he is a #1

He may not put the high point numbers up as we are not a high scoring team but he will definitely help that and also shelters smith some while he still learns the pro game, great rookie season but also good to make sure he doesn't feel he has to shoulder the load at such a young age
BINGO!

Hamilton will be fantastic for NJ for the first half of this contract. I think it's pretty likely his contract is going to hurt us the last 3 or so years of it, but we'll see.

One way I think this really helps NJ is that this is the biggest UFA signing in Devils history. No one can say big name players don't want to come play for NJ anymore. I think Hamilton will make us better and I hope he's a yearly Norris nominee. I still think NJ misses the playoffs this year though.

HARD pass on Tarasenko. We've already gambled before on an injured 30 year old with PK Subban. It would be stupid to burn our hand on that stove twice.

He’ll be 35 at the end of it. Not a big deal still producing

I have loved everything Fitz has done to date. Most importantly, he has given his prospects some time to mature in the AHL and not force them too soon to the NHL. Develop the talent you have and it will pay off in a year or two.
Also can't wait to watch Michigan games next year. If Power stays there that will be the closest to a "super" team you will ever see, and two Devil prospects will be on the team.

Over the last 4 years, there's never been more than 10 d-men 30 and over that have had more than 15pts. 2 of those years only had 5 and 7 d-men 30 and over that cracked over 15pts. It's not written in stone that Hamilton will be anywhere close to a point per game guy after 30 (only 2 years away.) I'm glad we have him for now, but that contract is going to SUCK for NJ sooner than later.

I'll take Saad and, Tarasenko if the trade is stupid lopsided in our favor. Parise I would bring back just so I could healthy scratch his ass. (Yes, I'm still bitter. Sue me.)

I don't think Parise deserves to even be our laundry boy washing jock straps. I'm bitter too lol. F--- that guy!

The only negative I can think of this off-season was the reach for Stillman and the goalie who.

Yes goalies are hard to predict but there were others that were ranked higher and I think someone said they didn't even have him ranked

Hopefully Stillman surprises us

Contract is market value BUT, this team needs a Ryan Reeves type player to keep opposing teams in check. As built now, they will be pushed around!

Douggie has played around, and rarely looked out of place in a new setting. A way better signing than Jones, and you didn't have to give up anything to get him.
